It was absolutely fantastic to see the girls win, but my goodness was it tough to watch. We wasted so many good moments of possession and scrambled far too often. It was great to see Sammy Kerr get the goal, though. I figured that if there were one girl to score for us last night, it'd be her. Bit upsetting for Polkinghorne to miss the 1-on-1 though.

I know it's a bit old, but did anyone see Sermanni on the news admitting that they didn't even bother practicing spot kicks leading into the final?

I wouldn't be spreading that around if I was him...

Great result for the girls. They must be on Cloud Nine at the moment.

Surely this final HAS to be aired live on TV. Australia vs England or Australia vs New Zealand; either would be a great game.

Yeah, very sad. Do you know women are 4x more likely to do their ACL then men? I really wish some medical types would look in to that.

Quite a shame for the team. I think playing this formation would have been quite interesting especially in relation to what the other teams are doing.

Still, the Matildas have a lot more depth than they did 4 years ago thanks to the W-League so I'd give them a fair chance to get out of the group stage.

It comes down to dollars and importance. If her name was Lionel Messi there would be doctors working around the clock.

And a 2-1 win yesterday, too. (That article was for Thursday's match.)

So DeVanna was included after all. Does anyone know the specifics of her disciplinary issues?
