LOL at the fact we didn't have a thread for our, obviously much loved, ;) National Team captain!

Here's the latest on the chase for the $$ or pounds for that matter! :)

I'm not entirely sure what to think of it. You don't want to let yourself get ripped off, but in the same sense you need to have a strong sense of loyalty as well. I'm quite divided on what he should do.

how many times has Neill been linked with a move to city? at least 3 or 4 times.

It looks as though he might be staying after all. But give it another few days and the weather will probably change again.

Neill's vastly overpaid as it is. Our best players are fond of chasing fat paychecks at unglamourous clubs, rather than trying to play at the highest level they're capable of.

it is dissapointing..... Just play one more season with ham. It's a decent premier league club which had him as captain. Good enough!

    Re: The Lucas Neill thread

I don't understand why he is doing this. He had it very good at west ham, being captain etc, despite playing with some inconsistency that probably didn't live up to his astronomical wages. They don't have those funds now, most clubs don't and the only ones who would wouldn't want him. Very immature

basically this is my order now.

    moore
    milligan
    spiranovic
    cornthwaite
    neill

will have to sign with a smallish proud club on less than 60k to go up the order in my socceroos lineup.

His head is too far up his own arse to sign for less. The fact he has missed the start of the season seems to suggest he has missed his chance with most other clubs.

    Re: The Lucas Neill thread

I do get the feeling that this waiting game is really going to come back and hurt Lucas. Maybe as much as him not being considered for the squad next year if he misses out on a lot of time waiting for the big money to come around.

    Re: The Lucas Neill thread

He is, and its sad to see the captain of our national team prioritising money over playing. Its stupid to think that its almost September and he doesnt have a club yet.

    Re: The Lucas Neill thread

the only saving grave for lucas is that perhaps he is holding out for as much $ as possible so he can serioulsy help back an a-league team from west sydney or the gong.. all will be forgiven then.

Nothing that we didn't know, its getting to the point where I'm feeling ashamed for how he is acting. You play football because you love the game, not because you love the green.

    Re: The Lucas Neill thread

Exactly my thoughts, vonni. It wasn't too long ago our Turkish, Australian-lovers in the Superlig were commenting about how well they admired the Australian talent they had been in contact with for being honourable, level-headed folk... now we have to see the other side of the coin, so to speak.

    Re: The Lucas Neill thread

each to their own i guess. I think most of our players are very professional sportsmen. Lucas neill has proved this with the clubs he has played with, yet thinks far too much of himself in terms of his abilities.

Should have stayed at West Ham he was the captain ffs, he needs to put his ego in check I doubt he will be performing well anyway without a pre season and the world cup is coming up too.

    Wanker. Simple as that.

What's sad is that he chose not to represent Aust against Ireland in case he was injured and then no club would pick him up.

It's not quite all about you, Lucas.
