No one is as disdainful of USA's soccer prowess as the Italians. I read their press regularly and not even the Portuguese (who also dismiss us as wannabes often) are so harsh.
He was in a sane kind of role, license to roam forward but he was the RCB. Picked his moments. Did a good job.
More beautiful and warmer places to leave than the Ruhr Valley (which has its strong points, don't get me wrong.)
The Italians would certainly take exception to the use of prowess and USA soccer in the same sentence.
From a soccer standpoint they probably don't make sense but from a life perspective...both have great weather, stunning scenery, wonderful, cheap food, inexpensive housing and transit. Have been to both and enjoyed them both more than expected. I've found Mediterranean places to be a but slower paced, more relaxed, very easy going. For me those are great qualities to have. Obviously though money talks and $1mil in Germany is a lot better than $100k in Greece. I'd out up with snow and short days for the extra $900k I suppose...can use it to buy an amazing house in one of the aforementioned places
Get a little villa between Trieste and Koper. You can drive it from Munich in like 5 or 6 hours, or just gas up the plane and your there in 45 mins. Throw in a little Yacht and the Adriatic is your oyster. Italy, Greece, Croatia, Turkey... no need to choose!
Buy an island off the coast of Italy, live off of a hoard of renaissance gold you found, adopt a Byzantine lifestyle, travel the Mediterranean and near East, make mysterious references to “The East”, take the daughter of the Ali Pasha as your slave/lover, plot your revenge... oh wait that’s the Count of Monte Cristo..
Everton's Jonjoe Kenny is going on loan to Schalke for the 2019-20 season. Hopefully that means that McKennie won't get any minutes in that ill-fitting role this season.
That, coupled with the fact that the U18-U23 development structure in England basically doesn't exist. The "Premier League 2" is useless.
There’s so much money in the Prem even for mid-table teams due to the revenue sharing for TV. This makes it extremely difficult for young domestic talent to get steady minutes given that the clubs can bring in more proven entities from other leagues. Thus, they need a development vehicle for their young “in no man’s land” talent which the Bundesliga is a great fit for.
Great header from Wes in the match the other night- he really came back for it and still put it on goal with a lot of power, forcing a good save. He's so good in the air.
EPL2 is trash and really is pointless. It exists in it's own universe, still part of the youth pyramid, nothing but kids vs kids. That's not experience for players. Whereas in Germany your U23/II play between 3rd Liga-OL, between 3rd and 5th division vs adults. So players actually gain experience out of it. And performances there moves you up the pyramid. I recall more than once Pep bashing EPL2. wouldn't call the new RB being player dev, he's played pretty much 40 games for the Everton 1st team and over 3000 min as a pro.
So why did the PL create the EPL2 rather than just have a proper system where their reserve squads could play in the Championship/League One/League Two?
Because England has uniquely strong lower division clubs and they and their fans would (literally) riot if reserve teams were allowed into the pyramid at their expense. It comes up every so often as a point of reform and it is immediately and near-unanimously shot down.
Yeah they dont want a Man City II team beating a tranmere or a Colchester. They actually support their lower teams decently and it would be blasphemous to have to sit through those types of matches with a Man United II taking a possible spot to be promoted in the League 1 or 2.. its too prestigious to move up and frankly would make their model of success worse so I dont blame them. Truthfully it isnt broke over there. So what if they pawn off their youngsters and buy them back later. THey can afford it.
Isn't he supposed to be at the GC? 🇺🇸 He's here to stay 😍✍️@WMckennie has signed a contract extension until 2024! 🔵⚒️⚪ pic.twitter.com/HUL6TErIn8— FC Schalke 04 (@s04_en) June 30, 2019
so what's the difference from a completely new contract vs an extension if the wages/bonus are updated with the latter?
