I can't decide if Tedesco is a tinkerer like Tuchel, or if he was tinkering like that because of so many glaring holes in the lnie-up and not enough real top flight talent to cover the field. I do not think Tedesco was at the heart of S04's problems. It is whoever let some very damned good talent walk on a free, almost as if it was a part of the business plan. That can have a carryover effect to recruiting talent as well. If a player wants to go, then you have to get something for them, I get the avoiding a stepping stone mentality, but that is the reality of world football. If you want to play CL knockout stage footy on the regular, you cannot consistently let CL talent go on a free.
I'd like to see Wes move at this point, which is a shame as traditionally Schalke should be a great place to be. Not only is Schalke looking horrid, but getting jerked all over the field is not good for Wes. I get the idea that young players should learn a few roles and try different things, but this has been ridiculous and is only the path to being a career mucker and utility player. If next year looks like more of the same, I think he's going to damage his longer term prospects by not finding a place to play consistently, exacerbated by playing on such a shambolic team.

He played well that 1st half.. also pulled up a bit limp and was grabbing his hamstring but fine enough to continue on
Yeah, looks like Dortmund's title hopes are done, and Schalke is safe from the relegation playoffs. To relate it to the thread, I think McKennie's been fine, but nothing too remarkable about his performance.
I thought S04 had lucked into a winning strategy by playing against 9 men, but maybe 8 would have been the better strategy.
yeah, break out rounds. He was also what 3min away from a victory over ManCity? No lucky breaks for him.
Bump from the second page. I know some folks like Tedesco and some don't. Well, it looks like Schalke is confused too. He's come up quite a bit in their search, and some folks want him to come back.
Just depends on what your goal is as an organization. The team has no attacking talent and very little ability to play actual football. Tedesco rather than play a 5-3-2 of fortuna duesseldorf and every other team that has no talent and no real need for a coach, tried something else. In fact he played the 'shell' game.' A new formation, a new tactic virtually every match. If you can't beat-em, confuse them. This team would be vastly different if they had kept Goretzka. He pulled all the strings offensively and made this team dangerous. This is how terrible S04 management is: they not only lost Goretzka, they lost him on a free. Don't blame Tedesco for that kind of stupidity.
SH - Doesn't a good coach acknowledge that his team lacks talent relative to the competition and create a solidly defensive formation tied to a way to catch opposing teams asleep at the switch?
I am interested in seeing how S04 plays out the rest of the season. I think the BVB win may take a lot of pressure off, both in relation to relegation and making it feel like less of a lost season.
Yes, he is ranked as the... oh, wait! You want the shortlist rankings. Thought you were looking for the longlist.
Schalke now see former Schalke player David Wagner as the top candidate for manager. Wagner mutually terminated his contract with Huddersfield Town earlier this season after 4 years at the club.
