Of course now the worst that can happen is that Schalke starts winning games.

I think he’ll play if he’s healthy. Schalke probably won’t be happy but right now they aren’t even thinking that far ahead to June.

Schalke defeat Hannover 0-1 and gain some breathing room in its relegation fight.

Stuttgart also lose today (by 3 goals, at that), meaning that there's now 6 points and a large goal difference separating Schalke from the relegation play-off spot.

It sounds like the kind of thing that surgery would help but I don't hear anything about surgery in McKennie's case. I guess we aren't that far advanced scientifically yet?

There really isn’t a surgical treatment for a torn ankle ligament. As far as I know. I own one of them myself and it did get completely better by itself. But it took many months.

    So far back!

Wes has returned to the training field and is doing a bit of individual work.

The article(s) predicting multiple months out based on absolutely nothing were totally wrong? Color me shocked!

He's probably going to spend some more time on the mend, just to make sure. Could've been worse, glad it looks like it wasn't.

Based on nothing but the frozen image of him appearing to have a clubbed foot when he landed. That would seem like something that would take longer than a few weeks to heal. The guy's tendons must be pretty elastic.

Still, this is good news: I would still be in a cast if I did that to my ankle.

Looks like he will play again for Schalke this season, and should be fine for the Gold CUp.

This seems more realistic. They will be careful with rehab as getting the ankle right is super important to regaining full agility, strength/push off, etc. I still would be surprised to see him playing before season is out but not impossible.

Innocuous plays result in long-term injuries, and violent plays result in short term knocks.

Hence why you always wait for injury severity confirmation.

IDK about for a "tear". Guess it depends on the severity. But there is that "tightrope" surgery that they could have done for a sprain with ligament damage. Its outpatient and the recovery time can be as little as 2 weeks.

    https://www.si.com/college-football...iloa-ankle-surgery-alabama-injuries-tightrope

The tightrope is a relatively new innovation in the treatment of high ankle sprains, in which ligaments and tissues around the leg bones, the tibia and fibula, are loosened and become unstable. The tightrope offers an alternative to the traditional methods of treatment: rest and rehabilitation or the insertion of screws into the tibia and fibula, bonding them like one would a pair of two-by-fours with a nail. In tightrope fixation, surgeons slip a high-strength suture through small holes in the bone, fasten it with small metal buttons and then tighten it as you would a zip tie. The procedure takes about 25 minutes.

Only to get banged up again....not sure his "fast" healing properties are serving him very well.
