i still do a double take every time I see it. how does he get so high?

he seems to consistently out jump taller opponents and get a good head on the ball. maybe it'll stop when defenders start putting a body on him. but right now it's unreal.

I think good teams monitor minutes for very young players. They could handle it for right now but it could hurt them in the future. Kind of like how baseball teams have pitch counts and younger players have lower counts.

I don't think Baseball (pitching) is a good comparison. A pitcher's curve is about 115 pitches for a seven-inning outing. I don't think there is such a number curb for soccer players.

I was just trying to impress that the younger players had lower limits than older players to avoid long term injuries. There are cautionary tales of U20 soccer players logging big minutes that have an extensive injury history later.

Tedesco is one of the new breed of BuLi coaches dubbed "laptop coaches" that uses detailed analytics to help with almost every significant coaching decision.

There is detailed fitness and physiological testing performed and kept for each player. If a player does not evaluate at his peak then Tedesco uses that data to decide if/how much the player plays.

Klinsmann instituted similar, even more comprehensive analytics when he ran the USMNT program.

Would be interesting if they had some combine-type of testing where they measured vertical. Doesn't CP have a vertical in the high-30" range? Did we have that conversation back when he did his off-season dunk?

I just watched the game. He was fantastic and probably the single best Schalke player in his time on the field. His driving runs gave the Schalke midfield an identity and created danger. His aggression stiffened the midfield’s constitution immediately.

Well he has to doesn’t he, in order to dunk? He is not a tall guy 5’8. Dunk calculator (making a couple assumptions re height and standing reach) says about 36-40 inch vertical. The issue with Pulisic is that he is really thin and gets pushed around in the air easily resulting in weird landings and increased risk for serious leg injuries.

McKennie in the other hand is thick and about 5’11-6’1. He can jump out of a building. My guess is he has about a 35-40 inch vertical as well.

So you are saying that Shalke will leave Donovan at home for the WC?

I believe the proper nomenclature is an athlete's vest lol, but essentially it is a sports bra. It's purpose is to hold the given tracking device.

The garment is a vest. It's purpose is to hold any given tracking device. On a professional budget, yes typically both a GPS device and a heart rate monitor.

Not that excited about the Jones comparison. He had a strong WC and scored an excellent goal. He also had many "meh" performances. He also had some horrible fouls.

I mean he also has an additional couple hundred professional games to compare to. The majority spent playing in either the Bundesliga, the UCL, or the EPL. The narrative you're presenting is patently selective.

A DM with some horrible fouls. Who ever heard of such a thing?

A guy who could get 160 BL1 games, 50 BL2 games, plus a dozen or so each in the EPL and the Super Lig, plus two dozen CL games. Who needs such player?

Jones had “bite” and was not afraid to get stuck in or to take the ball forward.

We need a team leader who is fearless and McKennie seems the most like that of all the utes.

Yes Jones could lose control but I don’t see that aspect in McKennie.
