Better than "Potatoes." "Wes" might just work, too.

Me too! I don't want no Abba Zabba. Don't want no Almond Joy. There ain't nothing better suitable for this boy. Well it's the only thing that can pick me up, better than a Cup O Gold. See only a Chocolate Jesus can satisfy my soul.

Well, maybe Wes could too, with USMNT. Dressed like a smurf, I have a hard time believing in him.

Am I alone in thinking that Schalke is built to punch above their weight class? That they are built to beat elite possession teams like Man City? What odds would you give me for the pipe dream of Schalke advancing? 7-1?

I suspect that you are alone in thinking that Schalke was built.

Even worse was Silky C didn't stick. Whoever that was tried forever for that to stick.

But this is Sam's thing - he makes cute nicknames that nobody adopts.

Just trying to imagine my wife catching me engaged in Silky C discussion.
Something like "no matter how good that American Silky C is Brazilians are something really special". Would have made my family life super excited.

Schalke can mount a brave defense against City. The English club is known for choking on occasion, so I wouldn't be surprised if this quite poor Schalke can give them battle for a while.

I know you are a Schalke fan and sometimes expert on this board as pertains to Schalke. Exclude this year, would you not agree that this is the way they were built? Deliberate moves by Tedesco last year, ie the transition of Myers, the export of Howedes, the acquisition of Burgstaller, don’t all of those point to a plan? You yourself have posted about Tedescos wild ideas and how they baffled fans but seemed to work (specifically I recall your opinion on Myers eg best 10 turned to a 6).

Disagree with the plan if you want but Tedesco’s Schalke eschew the midfield and play over the lines, risking nothing in buildup and relying on set pieces to nick a goal and defend?

That seems like a side geared towards defeating a possession based pressing team, who is dynamic in their movement and technical ability?

He has been trying to get "Beerholder" to stick in the MLS board and he either got banned or threatened with a ban if he didn't stop.

They look terrible. They are built for a relegation playoff match.

I thought he was the best player on the field today for Schalke.

I dont know if he’ll ever be good enough to play every week at the level of a Bayern or Chelsea, but if his contract ever runs out or he seeks a move.... he could see major minutes at squads like Bayer Leverkusen, Lazio, Everton or even a team like Dortmund. I’m talking like top 3-7 team in a big league.

I am aware that Schalke has a great history, and is still alive in the CL, but I’m just saying where I think his level is now, and in the future in case he ever seeks a move.

They're a big club. Top 5 in Germany right? He's sure to get CL or EL probably every season and some good wages. I don't see him moving even if they're in a downward spiral this season or next.

Generally, yeah, but they're only a point above the relegation playoff right now.

they'll bounce back. It was only like 4 years ago when Dortmund flirted with relegation and still finished in the top 8. Chelsea had the same woes.
