That totally ignores the issue at hand. Did Trump commit crimes and violated the constitution? Fox viewers want the case dismissed without trial. Good luck finding a liberal poll saying he should be hanged without due process.
I think he did, he is not being charged for many of them, he is being charged with 2 things, abuse of power and obstruction of justice. Conservatives believe he did not do any of that. Liberals believe he did it. "Independents" are divided over it but most support the impeachment and a bit less the removal. https://www.newsweek.com/majority-independent-voters-support-trump-impeachment-1467744 So if people watching fox news think Trump did nothing wrong and Democrats are just making shit up, then it makes sense that they do not want this "fake" trial and they believe (want to believe) that the trial should be dismissed.
The bolded part is a bad summary. Plenty of conservatives believe he did those things. Justin Amash as an example. Rick Wilson, other never trumpers, etc. People who have read the Muller Report and believe it. People who pay attention, whether they are conservative or liberal. People who reside in the reality-based world. If you want to say "cult members and Fox News viewers" believe he did not do any of that, that's a better summary.
I did link to a pol, so yes they do show that about 10% of republicans say trump should be impeached, so they think he did crimes, but over 90% say he should not be, now, perhaps they believe he did it and do not care so they tell pollsters that impeachment is not needed, but that is harder to measure.
My only point was that republicans <> conservatives. I try to wrap my head around the idea that there are people in this country who were so certain that Obama and Killary were doing crimes, just as certain as I am that Trump is doing crimes. Those people thought that the endless congressional investigations into complete bullshit like Benghazi, Fast & Furious, etc. were aimed at exposing those crimes and not just damaging their political opponents for future elections, and somehow the Mueller report and the impeachment hearings were just political theater. But I just can't wrap my head around it. And it comes down to the evidence. Hillary was just exonerated (again) from whatever she was accused of, while new allegations keep piling up against Trump and his mob, and even with a compliant DOJ that refuses to actually investigate those crimes, it's still so obvious to me that the crimes are happening, and I'm wondering how my fellow Americans can be so oblivious to this. And the answer is, of course, Fox News. But maybe that's just me.
The question is, if there is possible to have an objective reality, and then, who would be closer to know what is going on, Fox viewers or MSNBC viewers. Yeah, their perceptions of reality are diametrically possessed, but one of those perceptions matches reality, while the other doesn't. IOW, there is no equivalency between a 90/10 Fox poll asking for forego the impeachment (not even just to acquit) and a 90/10 MSNBC poll saying that Trump should be trialed by the Senate; one is part of a collective delusion, the other is based on evidence from the real world.
Not to derail this fascinating discussion, but if you're a flat-earther, how do you get from Chile to Australia? This suggests that the two sides of the Pacific Ocean are the two edges of the table-top, but what if they are wrong? What if you have to go across the US, all the way over Asia and the Ural mountains to get to London from the east coast? It's a long-ass flight and most people sleep through it, so you never know for sure without your tinfoil hat. Where are the edges of the earth?
going back on the thread subject, the GAO is now part of the deep state trying to take down Trump: Fox & Friends floats a conspiracy theory that the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office is anti-Trump: "Do you think it's just a coincidence that that news would drop exactly the same day the [impeachment] trial started?" pic.twitter.com/19K9gXSwEN— Bobby Lewis (@revrrlewis) January 17, 2020
So Antarctica doesn't exist in the flat-earth world? If we can have a Fox News thread for low-information ideologues, why not a flat-earth thread?
You obviously have not been keeping up with the latest flat earth "science" See the "pac-man effect" https://www.livescience.com/62454-flat-earthers-explain-pac-man-effect.html
Fox News is just the largest and most obvious culprit, there's an entire industry of right wing media via talk radio and the internet that's pretty much created its own relatively consistent alternate reality.
Government Accountability The clue would be right in the title of this socialist organization planted by Stalin himself in the bowels of our Government. Anyone who asks for accountability from a Trump is an enemy of the White race. / s Hail Grimes!
I see that Trump's defense in that abuse of power is not am impeachable defense. That isn't merely a misreading of the Constitution, that is putting the document through a shredder.
"If the President does it,it cannot be illegal." Some other President not named Trump a long time ago who also got impeached.
Abuse of power, misappropriation of funds, and vassalage to a foreign power are precisely what was meant by the phrase "high crimes and misdemeanors" at the time the FF were learning to speak English. There was also an implication in not enumerating them that the right was reserved to include anything new anybody thought up, but those were the commonplace ones. It is worth noting on the vassalage one that when Bernadotte, one of Napoleon's generals, became consort and husband of the Swedish Queen and thereby their head of state (because men) he felt a clear loyalty to Sweden and no longer to Napoleon arose out of the transition; and he went to war against Napoleon before too long.
