It also is explanatory that my father always "corrected" casual use of the word when something more appropriate made more sense. Given that he more than likely actually experienced hate in the form of existential threat due to the Soviet state and later to being a DP at a very young age, I can understand the sensitivity. I guess it rubbed off.

Perhaps you can tell me your opinion.

    Oh, the sheriff is here!

What am I a viewer of? FNC? Not for years. A show or two specifically positioned as to be anti-establishment (and critical of, yes, literally both ********ing sides) on FBN? Yes, but actually not at all in the past 3 months or so.

I tend to hit up BBC World for anything important (this is the time when I lament, again, Al Jazeera, and a job that puts me in places where it's commonplace).

I can't speak to the Chappelle/urban use of "hater." I don't know the nuances of that. I do know that on sports boards, it is used as Fox does --- as a sneer. Calling somebody a "hater" is akin to saying that they have no capacity for change. They are to be dismissed.

This was worth watching. Comey was obviously pissed after that meeting. Then came the stupid question from Fox.

Emerging from Monday’s hearings with the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees, a furious James Comey slammed President Donald Trump and the Republican party for impugning the FBI’s reputation with Americans. But when questioned by a Fox News reporter, he had particularly sharp words.

“The FBI’s reputation has taken a big hit the last year,” asked the reporter. “Do you share any of the responsibility for that?

“No,” Comey replied flatly. “The FBI’s reputation is taking a big hit because the president of the United States, with his acolytes, has lied about it constantly.” But then it got personal.

“In the face of those lies, a whole lot of good people that watch your network believe that nonsense,” he said. “That’s a tragedy. That will be undone eventually. But that damage has nothing to do with me.”

Wonder if they'll show that on Fox News

Excellent job by Jordan and others who are holding advertisers' feet to the fire for supporting alt-right media. That tactic works.

In that case the Deep State coordination really is unprecedented. All that's left for them to do is somehow pin it on the Clintons, Pelosi & Soros.

This is really weird. Because this systematic discrediting of existing order is exactly following the playbook to create a fascist state. You attack the legislature, the existing body of state workers, the part of law enforcement that would question you, and then the judges. The next step is put the armed forces in their place (the Triumph of the Will part).

But the thing is, it's all just talk. They don't actually do anything. They haven't purged, they haven't cowed into silence. They have fired people at the edges (like those working on the environment), but that doesn't help them change the core systems of control. They play at fascism because it looks cool, but they don't actually have iron will. Or even paper will. So far, they have the strength of smoke. They could still do this (and the scary part is that it might work), but I don't believe they have what it takes to even try.

Certainly, but I thought there would be true believers among his lampreys, maneuvering Trump by using his ego as a tiller, but it turns out they only talked a big game. Putin blew up buildings in false-flag attacks to achieve power. It's unimaginable that the Trump bunch could do anything like that (I guess that could be read in such a way that it seems I am giving them some credit).

Once Bannon left, I became a tiny bit more sure we'd still have democracy in 2020 - Miller is but a shell of that ethos, he only mostly wants to hurt unwhite people; he and Trump lack real courage (even the courage to be truly evil). Bannon really understood how to play Trump to the best effect, using his ego as you describe. Whoever ultimately was responsible behind the scenes for sending him running away from the White House is a true American hero.

edit: I do still worry about what he may be up to behind the scenes; he's been out of the spotlight for a bit

Trump is Chaotic Evil, not Lawful Evil. He lacks pretty much everything required to be Lawful Evil -- strategic purpose, intelligence, patience, commitment, fortitude. He's an adult toddler who is ruled by his hourly emotions. Which is a good thing for our democracy, because if he had the capability to tear down this country's institutions, he would have a great deal of support. If we have learned nothing else during the past 2 years, it is that so many Americans yearn for a totalitarian leader.
