All iPhones will be 8GB now and will drop to $399. Great news for those who've been waiting. Sort of sucks for early adoptors. (Bleeding edge tax.) I paid Apple to beta test for two months. When Aperture had a big $200 price drop, Apple provided store credits to early buyers.
Apple to offer a $100 store credit to early iPhone purchasers: An open letter from Steve Jobs to all iPhone customers
Sh!t happens. I bought my PowerBook a while back and a month and a half later a newer one was released with a more powerful cpu and it included the SuperDrive. I had to suck it up. I'm going to get one of the 4GB iPhones this weekend, it's cheap enough and it'll do what I want. I don't plan on it replacing my iPod so I'm not too worried about the space issues.
Oh wait - better BioShock quote! "There has been tremendous pressure to regulate this plasmid business. There have been side effects: blindness, insanity, death. But what use is our ideology if it is not tested? The market does not respond like an infant, shrieking at the first sign of displeasure. The market is patient, and we must be too." IOW, tuff titties.
It's the "price" of technology. If you buy something too early, the price will drop. Of course, half the time that's because something newer is about to be released...
Well I bought one yesterday and love it so far. As a matter of fact I'm posting this from my iPhone right now.
So I just updated Itunes to 7.4.1, & Whenever I sync my Iphone there's a tab in the middle that says ringtones, but can't find it anywhere else. I know there's supposed to be an Alarm looking like on the left side but there's nothing. help?
What do you mean can't find it anywhere else? On the iPhone it's in the settings or when you go to the phone and edit someone's contact you can choose ringtones there. Apple hasn't activated the ringtones feature on iTunes yet, as in you can't download them yet... I believe. You can make your own ringtones and upload them through iTunes. I did it and it works great and best of all it's free.
ohh. I was talking about when you open up Itunes, there is no ringtone bell under Radio on the left side. I guess that's because it hasn't been activated. The next update will have it?
Here's an article about that $100 concession. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/09/15/BUO6S6INJ.DTL If I read it correctly it states that you cannot buy downloads from the iTunes store directly but you can buy an iTunes gift card. So what's the big deal?
I think you are underestimating the laziness of the consumer and what that means to Apple's bottom line. Since they only get 30 cents on the dollar through the Itunes store, I can see wanting to make it a little more of a hassle.
