Rudiger set to return to training with the team in a month. More tests today and he's doing great! http://www.forzaroma.info/news-as-r...tro-ricci-sadiq-e-torosidis-ai-saluti-finali/
Over on CDT they're saying that De Rossi has suffered a calf injury playing for Italy last night. It is feared that it could be a reoccurence of previous injuries. A full examination will be performed today.
Rudiger working with the ball, running and some change of direction. Looks like he's on schedule. http://www.forzaroma.info/news-as-r...e-lavoro-con-il-pallone-e-cambi-di-direzione/
Why do I see this video and immediately start listening to Eye of the Tiger or something out of the Rocky IV soundtrack?
They're saying that he's targeting a return of mid-October. Don't see him resuming full-time starting duties till at least mid-november however. Lets hope one of the 3 rejects we signed this summer can show some semblance of competence between now and then.
Whether it'a bad luck or Sabatini and his love for gambles, or simply that our medical staff continues to be shite (like it's been for the past dozen years) this is another year where our new signings come up broken (I wonder who is in charge of our medicals?), I mean everybody and their nonna knew that Vermaelen was injury-prone, yet we buy him when we knew Rudiger had just torn his ACL... makes me question why is Sabatini buying injury-prone players when everyone knows our medical staff leaves a lot to be desired... Looking back at our defensive woes, it's not hard to see why we are where we are - Rudiger, Vermalen and Mario Rui are all f*cked long term... Anyway, rant over... Anyone got any news on these three and how their recovery is coming along?
We didn't buy Vermaelen, he came on loan for free on top of 2 other CB's who were brought in. A gamble that is probably worth taking considering that Vermaelen is a very good player when healthy and appeared healthy in the Euros. More over, Rudiger was coming back by end of October anyways. Rui was simply bad luck, not Saba's fault. The team over all seems to have less muscular injuries than before despite the condensed schedule. It is those damn ACL's that screwed us badly.
What? how the hell can you blame the medical staff for any of that? Rudiger hurt himself playing for the national team. Vermaelen is ALWAYS hurt and Rui tore his ACL. None of these injuries has anything to do with the medical staff.
I can't rake Saba over the coals too bad, because I don't think we had the money to buy Digne. If we did and still let him walk, consider me pissed. I'm never crazy about buying guys with no experience playing in Europe. Dieting and fitness habits get magnified when you're playing midweek so often, which is why I'm not 100% giving Saba a pass for putting all of his eggs in the Mario Rui basket. ACL injuries are often freak events, but they can also be a result of total body fatigue, which is not out of the realm of possibly in Rui's case, considering he's in his mid 20s and never played in Europe. You see squad and individual fitness unravel on a regular basis when they are new to playing in domestic and European competition. Conditioning is different. Recovery is different, and if a player likes to party in the season, you find out the hard way when they've thrown alcohol into their recovery periods.
Transfermarkt often has adequate estimates of players' return. Rudiger : Oct 11 Rui : Jan 9 No information on Vermaelen.
My 2 cents is I think they let him walk because I think Spalletti likes FB that are more attack minded with speed. I watched Barca play Gijon and Digne played well.
Rudiger is going to begin training with the primavera tomorrow! http://www.forzaroma.info/news-as-r...n-domani-ruediger-al-lavoro-con-la-primavera/
Update on Bruno Peres. He could be out as long as 14 days with a minor groin strain. He would miss approximately 3 games (1 Europa and 2 Serie A) http://www.asroma.com/en/news/2016/10/medical-update-on-bruno-peres
Roma officially says Florenzi tore his ACL: http://www.asroma.com/it/notizie/2016/10/il-bollettino-medico-su-alessandro-florenzi
This team is cursed... There's no explanation for it... Strootman, Rudiger, Rui, Florenzi... And I am probably missing someone...
