Can someone, or one of @chr1st's 7 kids wake him up so we can get one of those cool gifs. CHOOOO CHOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Hey @chr1st, I'm on my third over priced and over iced makes on the rocks from the hotel bar since my layover did not allow me time to stop at a liquor store. What the ******** man. GYASI GYASI GYASI
No. Having the ball glance off the underside of your shoe isn't exactly awe-inspiring. Watch the rest of his game.
If we are going to continue to play this formation we need a striker with the skills to play with the goal at his back. Unless he is fed a ball on a platter, like last night, Zardes is useless.
It's a good goal. It's a well timed run in traffic by a hungry striker between two defenders and across/in front of the goal keeper to get the vital touch. It's a strikers goal. Gyasi isn't gonna score you twenty yard volley screamers like the one Zlatan put off the crossbar. For Gyasi (or virtually any striker in the Berhalter/Porter system of the past few years) you want to see him scoring goals like this. Full credit to Gyasi. I hope this gets him back on track.
Agreed. The run through traffic was perfect, as was the pass in. I just wish he had the ability to turn when receiving a ball with his back to goal, or to take on a lone defender 1v1.
Like when he received the ball from Pipa, back to goal, (EDIT: drew two defenders to him, creating a ton of space), played a pass back, and Pipa scored?
Or maybe the 20 times his pass back was short or off target? As much as you guys like to bag on Pipa I can't believe you don't see the issues with Zardes. Or maybe you are just picking players to hate on or support randomly?
I think I (and most) expect more out of Pipa. He's our DP. He's supposed to be our leader, our number 10. Zardes was a virtual laughing stock and a reclamation project when he came to Columbus Crew. He came in and got his career back on track. And because I'm such a huge ********in softy, I am a sucker for stories like that.
I am so jazzed about that goal. Strikers can get into ruts on bad teams. Not saying Zardes was in a rut. Not saying Crew is a bad team. That sort of goal can reignite a player's confidence. What I am really saying is that I hope Hype Train scores on Saturday, when I actually get to be in attendance.
Dude had 23 touches last night. He attempted 16 passes on the night. Including the assist, he completed nine passes, and only one of those was in our end of the field. Of his seven incomplete passes, four came on the wing (three were near the half-way line). He took one shot. It was a goal. To me, that's an effective night for a striker. My complaint of Zardes from this game? He was consistently standing offside, which may have limited his teammate's options playing forward. What are you expecting from a guy that plays on an island and gets very little (and mostly poor) service and support? Eh, you've got the wrong guy, chief. I love all these slobs, especially Pipa. I love him to a fault, probably. Didn't you know Pipa and I are going to travel the world and solve mysteries once he retires?
Stats are great. He made at least 3 really bad passes that the entire section groaned at. Zardes is a position filler at the moment and can be an effective backup once we get a real striker, which may have already happened.
You are significantly understating the quality in that goal. I'm neither a Gyasi Hype Train conductor nor a Gyasi Hate Train conductor. That was goal was sublime. Bingham Robinho's ball covered until Gyasi deftly touched it a hair to pass Bingham. It's a soccer goal. Beautiful in the assist, the run, and the finish.
@DrunkandDisorderly ’s addition of choo choo choo at the end of the Zardes chant is yet another example of why I love that guy.
GET PAID, GYASI!!!! CHOOOO CHOOOO! https://www.columbuscrewsc.com/post...h-qNMxrfg1Mrb7Azvkj1PYNXZUKTAZWif_81Jfras6FfM
