Maybe he'll get a PS4 for a new year's present and quit soccer to become a Street Fighter pro. Better than chasing a ball in the Pepsi Cola Championship or whatever it's called these days.
Surgery went well today. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers! Road to recovery starts now! pic.twitter.com/uZhn8usmYh— Gyasi Zardes (@gyasinho) September 1, 2016
I'd assume that Zardes would need to prove that he's recovered before any of the teams currently interested in him would be willing to invest long term. How much does the timing of this injury hurt his chances of moving in the near future?
I don't think a broken foot is going to affect much. It's not ligament damage as far as I've heard so not really a red flag kind of injury.
Meh, that is what we thought about Bradley too, but his touch going to Hades and his foot surgery run about the same time. If Zardes touch gets any worse I don't know how he could still be considered a footballer.
Zardes' bad touches tend to end up in goal. As an amused fan of these antics I kinda just feel like I really don't give a f*** if his first touch looks like Sebastian Janikowski on an onside kick, as long as positive shit keeps happening when he's out there.
Incidentally I just imagined Sebastian Janikowski playing soccer and basically came up with Jelle van Damme.
Bradley had some nerve damage I believe. I'd don't think his touch has drastically declined, but he has lost a bit of his quickness which he had in Italy.
Jeff Carlisle is hinting that Zardes may be healthy enough to return if LA Galaxy make a deep playoff run. http://www.espnfc.co.uk/club/la-gal...sent-and-future-on-display-as-it-sees-off-rsl
Galaxy won a big one last night with a makeshift lineup. http://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2016/1...eal-salt-lake-our-chemistry-showed-right-away Zardes, Gerard, Keane all are banged up. Arena worked his magic with Husidic and Lletget playing a double pivot and Alan Gordon starting as a single striker, getting a goal and two assists. Husidic said he didn’t know if this particular group of starters would stick together – “Keano, one of our best guys, not in there is pretty scary,” he said – but he certainly wouldn’t mind it. “That’s the coach’s problem,” he said with a grin. “It’s a nice problem to have.” Arena was impressed with the overall effort of his starters. “I think that’s a team we’ve been playing with over the last two or three weeks, getting them ready for the playoffs,” he said. “They’ve been training together, they know each other and their responsibilities and they played in a very cohesive manner. “This is the best collective effort we’ve had in a while. I was pleased.”
Yes, and he was playing CF. He appeared to have an assist on the Jones goal, as he played Jones in on a breakaway. Jones took a couple of touches and then slid the ball low and hard, deflecting it into the net. Edit--on a second viewing, perhaps no assist for Gyassi, as Jones dribbled about 35 yard with the ball before scoring. Edit edit--MLS gave him an assist.
If soccer ability was correlated with character this guy would be one the world's greats: http://www.latimes.com/sports/soccer/la-sp-zardes-20170528-story.html
Imagine if at least one player from every professional team did what he is doing. Maybe he should start a new program to recruit like minded players around the country.
Late response I know. What I've noticed is that he really struggles when he has a defender breathing on his back when he receives a pass. Instead of stopping the ball there and posting up he tries to put it in front of him and it almost always ends up getting away from him. He needs to be stronger on the ball for someone his size.
Janikowski actually played for polish youth national teams, and supposedly was offered a contract by San Lorenzo in Argentina, but turned it down to come to high school in the us
