Pires, Robben, Ronaldo, Bale, im forgetting someone else but those players in single seasons were better to me than Giggs. Pires was absolutely better to mefrom 01-04, but Im biased obviously, then Robben, Ronaldo, Bale.
You are really showing your ignorance on your knowledge of old footballers when you are saying that Joe Cole or Rooney had more to offer the ball than Edwards . I have read countless material on Edwards and he was all accounts a techniquely gifted player . Finney said he had an immaculet first touch . Bobby Charlton said he was better in every phase of the game than George Best . Team mate Bill Foulkes said has to this day never seen a player who can play football like he could . I have a book by the great Stan Mathews where he describes a game where England were playing against the R
You are really showing your ignorance on your knowledge of old footballers when you say that Joe Cole or Rooney had more to offer on the ball than Edwards. . I have read countless material on Edwards and he was by all accounts a technically gifted player . Finney said he had a most delicate first touch . Bobby Charlton said he was better in every phase of the game than George Best . Team mate Bill Foulkes said has to this day never seen a player who can play football like he could . I have a book by the great Stan Mathews where he describes he himself played in against the Republic of Ireland . He describes how Edwards deep within his own half went on a mazy dribble taking him past five Irish players and laid the ball to Tommy Taylor to smash in to the net. Mathews was in awe of Edwards he described him a footballing genius. A poster on this site Tom Clare , saw Edwards play many times . He will tell you Edwards was a more gifted player than Ronaldo.
It's been 8 long years since the rankings... Comme, i wonder how many changes you would make after all these years. Did you thought about updating these rankings?
Quite a few changes I would think. I'd definitely like to update it at some point if I had the time. Lots of new players to include and older ones who I am more familiar with now.
I'm doing some research on the American's and the English Premier league. If anyone has a moment, please can you fill out my survey for a project: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/138CuYBKseZgxdRULcUeEDQyCUSWZRA1QolJsZscoGS8/viewform I really appreciate it
Anybody around capable of updating this list, I'd be very interested? Perhaps knock Sol Campbell down a few spots.
I did update this last year (and Sol Campbell moved down one place): https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/greatest-players-in-english-football-history.2071039/ You can find it in it's entirety on the website of @Gregoriak
You can update the "Greatests ****s in English Football History" every year until the next millennium, though, and he won't get pipped down to second. … not that Terry didn't give that one a push, either, mind.
Without any doubt, that is Sir Bobby Charlton. Younger fans have not seen him in play, but they may have heard about him from their dads and grandpas.
1. Harry Kane 2. Alan Shearer 3. Wayne Rooney 4. Bobby Charlton 5. Denis Law 6. Thierry Henry 7. Peter Schmeichel 8. Sergio Agüero 9. Petr Cech 10. Ryan Giggs
