Heaven forbid we have a cross anywhere on our uniform. We might offend fans in Saudi Arabia causing them to produce black market Sounders jerseys with altered badges.
I have also heard that a tertiary color for the Seattle MLS team could be gunmetal/graphite. Looking at Joel's crest, I would say that this might be a possibility.
If it offends them, then I like it even more Hopefully our third kit won't resemble the new USA away strip if this is the case
My source confirms Seattle Sounders FC as the name, and that the Space Needle will be in the crest design. My source has been pretty reliable in the past.
Count me in as a vote for Chief Sealth, or some other native reference or imagery on our crest/logo. I could do without the space needle, but begrudgingly admit that this is one of the most identifiable icons of Seattle around the world. My hope is for classic lines and something sleek and classic. Most NASL logos of old were horribly round, bloated and cartoonish, which is always death for a sports logo. One thing I liked about the Luminous crest, is it sleek, with classic lines, it’s not just big think lettering, double-embossed with a cartoon soccer ball on it. As for the cross, on the fan-crest posted around here, I have no problem with it, despite being an ardent atheist. It is, whether we like it or not, a common symbol used by western soccer teams for decades. My only beef with the fan-crest is it looks far too much like the crest of a Scandinavian country. In truth, this probably is a good thing, given the Swedish heritage here, but I’ll be damned if I’ll go around wearing a Swedish crest with northwest colors. J Anyway, SSFC has a nice right to it, and I thought the crest was very intriguing. I also love the idea of Boeing’s logo being on our jersey. Since there likely has to be a logo, having one that is iconic to our region would really be ideal. I’d accept a Microsoft related logo, even a Vulcan logo, but it would stink if it was something like Qwest, Verizon or some stupid sports drink. Once I see the exact shades of colors confirmed, my wife has promised to knit me a homemade soccer scarf, in the old traditional way. No machine-knit scarves for me! My wife, a life-long arts and crafter, will also create all kinds of new gear for me, kitchen magnets and t-shirts. I’ll have to buy the kit of course, but I think all other gear for me will be homemade, which actually has a long tradition amongst soccer fans. “Gearing up” for a match is part of the fun for me. It helps establish attending a match as a ritual. I am not a face-painter, or body-painter, that’s not my style. I do however tend to adorn myself in traditional soccer goon gear, heavily themed to the colors of the squad. I haven’t done this in years, I look forward to it.
I really like that kit. Much better looking than this one: Only problem is that Adidas does MLS kits, not Nike. I've had problems with some of the kits Nike has saddled us with, over the years, but that one is alright.
I like this look boys... by the way, have they announced that Sounders will be your team name yet? It seems impossible for this not to happen, as you guys had so much energy behind saving the team name. Well done!
Hopefully our third kit won't resemble the new USA away strip if this is the case [/quote] Why don't you like the new away kits??? I think their awesome.
Nothing from "official" sources, but one of my local media sources says he's been told it will be, but can't get anyone to go "on record". Also, I was listening to Groz with Gas, on KJR this afternoon, and they both said they were being told the same thing, from multiple sources.
Well that's pretty big, I can't believe you Seattle boys won this fight. Good job fellas! Now let's bring in Portland and watch you guys go at it.
Re: Seattle Sounders U S L - 1 Premium Edition That's very nice and would make an excellent tifo banner!
