Pretty much, it's also why she was criticized both for sailing to NYC and for not flying to NYC. Basically they wanted her to stay away.
Back in the days when I still bothered to argue with my Dad ( ) as a scientist he used to get very hot under the collar about greenpeace claims. His points were valid - they frequently made claims with no data. But ironically he held them to a higher standard than the corporates trashing the environment. Not that he didn't get mad with them as well - but from my marketing background, i always felt like his approach was naive.
The left is ignoring science, that was the point of the article. They are not saying that the burning of the Amazon is not a bad thing, they were saying that the memes and talking points about Oxygen were not factual.
I'm actually a bit surprised Trumps environmental views and policy (or lack thereof) isnt getting more media coverage. It's the most dangerous part of his administration in my opinion. Yet all we hear is the division, the racism, the lies, Russia, how bad a human he is, etc...
The same people who gladly ignore the scientific consensus on climate change will then turn back to science when and if it is convenient for them.
As I said in my first post - this stuff always operates in a false construct and isn't about "the left" If you only present the facts with no urgency - no one cares If you present a crisis you get traction. NDT just gave everyone emotional permission to forget about this again - that's the problem.
He fact checked people. I know how people hate it when it is them the ones that are being fact checked. You should not have to make up lies to get people to pay attention, unfortunately, we know that those that lie can get more attention, but still, you check their ass when they do. Yes is a double standard, but if you want to be in the side of science and facts, that is what you have to do.
1. Neil deGrasse Tyson is not a climate scientist 2. Neil deGrasse Tyson has shown his ass before whenever he ventures into topics that are not in his area of expertise 3. This isn't specifically about Neil deGrasse Tyson but about the people who deliberately muddle the waters when it comes to doing anything to combat global warming, like ignoring the scientific consensus yet are quite happy using science when it is opportune or convenient. I wouldn't count Neil deGrasse Tyson among those.
Agreed IMO with climate change there are two distinct issues. First humans are bad at multi-decade problems. This is the phase we were in. Second if the problem is too big, that gives permission to not care. Basically this is the phase we are now in. My personal experience is the bad guys win through inertia and the slow machinery of the state. When the good guys has us on the run, it was through immediate and emotional issues. There are plenty of people within the industry who do want to take on climate change, but they can't organise because there is no immediate lever to use. It's always been the problem. If Sydney was going to flood in 2 years, there would be action and the industry globally would energise.
Navy quietly ends climate change task force, reversing Obama initiative 🤬 #IdiotInChief is reversing everything Obama did because it was done by him. 🤦♀️ https://t.co/zoYQufnUDK— Arriadna 🗳️💙🇺🇸🌻 (@Arriadna) August 30, 2019 Yet, they tell me to believe that the military would do the right thing...
Lots of people aren't. Certainly no one else does this. Can you please explain what waters are being muddied here in this particular case?
It’s horrifying: Horrifying videos coming out of The Bahamas where everything has been destroyed. Yeah, saw that Dorian was at 910 mb and 180 mph (earlier today) over the Bahamas...and moving at 7mph. I was thinking that means no more Bahamas...
