They also have a cross-bar challenge
for season ticket renewals. You get one shot per ticket during halftime for free season tickets if you hit the cross bar from the top of the area.

I like that this has stopped being a "Freddy Adu playing soccer" thread (boring, and almost never happens) and turned into a "Las Vegas Lights team news" thread (one of the most entertaining teams in lower division soccer). This is not sarcasm, I'm being totally serious. I have learned so much about random soccer teams from following Freddy Adu's adventures not playing for them!

    Same here.

Adu's trajectory can be summed up in that cheesy Catherine Aird's quote: "if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning."

No sign of Freddy in the traveling squad to San Antonio.

Freddy made the bench but did not play in Wednesday night’s crazy 5-2 win over Phoenix Rising.

The Lights conclude their inaugural season tomorrow night in Sacramento.

Went off the rails when he refused to take a pay cut in Philly, started to hookah, and stupidly tried to go play on a Brazilian team. Those three things officially killed his career. It was all good until then. Age 14-23 were good, actually really good. 23-29 were pathetic. Time to hang up the cleats.

I was in Salvador a few months ago and had an uber driver who is a big Bahia fan. I asked him about Freddy and he had no idea who I was talking about.

Yep. He hit one of the PKs when DC beat New England on its way to MLS Cup 2004.

I remember his major tv network tv debut on DC. Of course the game had as much hype as Pele's last game on the Cosmos. My dad, who was indifferent to soccer, but willing to watch the game, was put off more by they Adu hype than by his (to untrained eyes) lack of spectacular play.

Out of the blue sky, Freddy starts the finale.

Still 0-0 at 42’. Watching this on the Lights broadcast/betcast. Interesting as the commentary is half the game, 1/2 movement of the betting line on the game. Freddy is semi-involved, kind of.

Adu got subbed out 10 minutes into the second half, and Sac Rep scored right after.

Actually, Freddy was subbed out (deservedly) right after Sacramento goal.

Ah ok, I only read the live text for the match and they had it backwards.

There's no such thing as the end of the road. There will always be some club for whom the publicity boost from signing him outweighs all other considerations.

After I saw him in one of his first games with Tampa Bay, I predicted that would be his last season. Foot skills were there but no endurance, burst or sign of athleticism. Lo and behold, he found another team. Vegas is kind of fitting as it is a place where stars well past their prime can still make a living. Unfortunately, the help you get as an aging entertainer with make-up, cosmetic surgery, lighting, sound systems, etc., doesn’t apply to professional athletics.

Anyway, I wouldn’t sign him but I wouldn’t count him out. Maybe this time he will get in shape for real!
