Well our boy Freddy started, went 65 minutes and SCORED the second in a 4-1 win.

Earned hardest working man of the match.

He played well, passed between the lines, passed with vision and purpose, served a couple good balls in. And knocked one in the net. He was disappointed to come off.

Eric Avila and Raul Mendiola help a lot in midfield. The Lights looked great. Happy for Freddy. Birthday goal and win!

    After party at the Plaza!

September 23, 2012 in a Union 3-1 home win against the Houston Dynamo, to be exact.

Unless you count the 2 goals he scored in Finland for KuPS reserves.

His two goals for KuFu-98 (third tier in Finland) in May 2015 should count: it's a Pro League & KuFu is independent enough from KuPS.

i'd rather see him in midfield than a trapp-adams-mckennie combo.

Jeebus, the guy scores his first goal in 25 odd years, can't play 90 minutes, and you want to replace guys like those three with him? Please tell me you're joking or being facetious.

Looks like Freddy has become a working soccer player again. Nothing wrong with that.

did you watch the ireland-usa game by any chance?

(i did...and literally fell asleep during the game)

the uSMNT has become so so so BORING zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

im not joking when I say that a mckennie-adams-adu midfield wouldve made the game WAAAY more watchable and wouldve added a shred of intrigue that was otherwise missing......it wouldve been cool to see how adu would do in an international game...much cooler than watching what i watched.

.....besides its not like there isnt at least precedent for him performing at that level....unlike SOOOOO many of the other supposed " better" options.

i'm just sayinf for ME PERSONALLY....when perusing the tv guide on cable....

a 2018 nuSMNT game featuring freddy adu would score way higher on the watchabilty and entertainment meter than a usmnt game featuring trapp-mckennie-adams midfield trio.

i'm not necessarily saying that adu would do well....just that it would be more watchable and entertaining FOR ME.....but im guessing i wouldnt be alone in that.

what game would you rather watch? be honest.

So as someone who has been watching Freddy play literally all of his minutes it’s not that exciting. And I would rather watch not only Weston McKennie but also all the little yanks that dot the USL landscape. Alvarez and Llanez and Busio and Ledesma etc.

But maybe you are being sarcastic on a very high level. In which case I agree.

    alas, no.

not being sarcastic. i havent been watching adu.

all i know is the usmnt needs a player who plays adu's position BADLY and doesnt have one....and the cupboard is bare.

i'd play nguyen there or...or green or saief.....or hyndman(??) ....or or or adu???! idk.

someone anyone needs to be a playmaker in midfield....trapp adams mckennie are all decent but they dont playmake....and i knew before i watched the game vs ireland that chances/goals would be few and far between. which to me means the lineup was wrong.

Agreed. 2011 Gold Cup Final Freddy—I miss that player and we haven’t had anybody close in terms of ball on his foot.

I was there. Adu's red card happened right in front of me too, lol.

Adu isn't likely to be anywhere near the USMNT anytime soon, if ever again. He wouldn't make them more interesting either. The USMNT would be better off playing a man down than having Adu in midfield at this point.
