I think the tinman would have played with more heart than most of the guys on Tuesday. But can he complete a pass in the final 3rd? That's the question.
He might play with more heart but it still wouldn't prevent him from dribbling into triple coverage and making bad passes.
The last games I saw of him he wasn't as much dribbling as walking around slowly, winded by the effort, looking like a 50 year old with a bad hip.
"As part of RFK Stadium farewell, Freddy Adu to sign autographs after open training Sat, play in D.C. United alumni game Sunday, #dcu says"
“Hey, come meet legendary Freddy Adu, the former “next Pelé,” the young kid who we used and abused to market the sport and MLS in America, leading to absurd worldwide expectations and the slow destruction of his career. Let’s rub salt into his wounds by treating him like a circus act.”
These alum type games tend not to be well attended. If I were in the area, I would be tempted to go. I remember when he first started playing for DC United 12 yrs ago and it was kind of must see TV just to see what he might do. Would have swore at that time that he would be a huge part of the USMNT for this cycle. Oh well. I don't blame him. He helped to create interest in the US game in his own strange way and for that, I would salute him and forgive him if he looked slow as a 28 yr old in an alum game.
For all his failures, if we were to make a list of "American Soccer Players Who Made You Go 'Wow'," Freddy would be there. He must have had about four or five 'wow' moments. That's more than nearly everybody outside D&D.
"If everything had gone exactly according to plan, Freddy Adu would have been in a soccer stadium in Europe on Saturday afternoon, in his prime at age 28 starring for a big club, tormenting opponents with exciting bursts and preparing to guide the United States to the World Cup next summer." So, in short, he's doing about as badly as our entire program.
I’m glad Freddy still has hope. The last thing I could take right now is him having his spirit broken. I hope he makes it back like he says.
I remember my non-soccer fan roommates at the time were excited to watch his MLS debut. Haven't talked to them in a while, but somehow I doubt they know who Pulisic is.

Triple coverage is a decidedly NFL term. It's like when guys on espn say someone "kicked a goal", it just doesn't sound right in the context of the beautiful game. Rant over lol
