Derby-Newcastle actually airing live on BeIN5, just like it was scheduled to! It's a miracle! EDIT: I shouldn't get too carried away, since the app shows it's in a 12:00-2:15 time slot, when the match actually starts at 12:30, meaning it will still be going at 2:15 and will probably be cut off.
Sat Sept 17 Cardiff City v Leeds United 7:30 am ET Ipswich Town v Aston Villa 10 am ET Birmingham City v Sheffield Wednesday 12:30 pm ET
Any word on which EFL Cup games BeIN will offer midweek on connect? The only one I see for live TV is Chelsea-LCFC. I think I saw Northampton-Manchester United is being shown in the UK, so I would assume that would find itself here as well, but they usually have one or two more that are offered internationally (I think).
During Wednesday's EFL Cup games, both beIN channels will show Real Madrid vs. Villarreal at 2:00 P.M. and Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid at 4:00 P.M.
I did the week's schedule last night so it was likely not there when you checked. beIN were a little late sending me their schedule this time. I wrote a piece on the EFL Cup on US TV for WorldSoccerTalk. You can see it here. SA www.soccertvblog.com
If you can't show Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool live on TV, don't buy the ********ing rights. Cunts.
If you lived in the UK, you would only have 2 matches available to you - streaming or on TV. And no Arsenal or Liverpool....how big a cunts are they??? beIN had 27,000 viewers for the last round on beIN-1 and 7,000 on beIN-ñ. Even a good matchup like Leicester v Chelsea will only get 1/2 the viewers Barcelona will get the next day (actually it will be a good measuring experiment). Bottom line: we in the US get 8 matches compared to 2 in the UK and from what I'm seeing no more than 3-4 anywhere else in Europe. Real Madrid and Barcelona take precedent over everything else as far as beIN is concerned. We should be use to it after 4 years. And yes, I know...streaming sucks! SA www.soccertvblog.com
Not that their fans will care too much about the League Cup, but could be an interesting afternoon(s) at Arse/MU/LFC friendly pubs in the US. "Can you put on beIN Sports Connect 9 please?"... "What now?"
For TV, we get 1 match and they get 2. Streaming without On Demand during work hours is just not helpful to a lot of people. They get bad viewer totals because they are still poorly distributed, which is kind of a chicken vs. egg thing. Fox did 5-15x the ratings of beIn with big clubs vs minnows during weekdays for the FA Cup, I seem to recall. I don't like that they bought league cup rights when they go to head to head with La Liga, Serie A, and Ligue 1 dates. Makes no sense. Last year they put the big english teams on tape delay, which I don't think I had an issue with as there were too many games. Replaying Chelsea 3x and PSG 2x as Liverpool and Arsenal are left completely untelevised is bad stuff.
If everybody who wanted to watch soccer got FS1, FS2, and beIN, I think the big clubs would still get more viewers for their FA Cup games than for their EFL Cup games. It might not be 5 to 15 times as many, but my point is that what competition it is matters, and the lack of people getting beIN is not the only reason for the difference in ratings between the FA Cup and EFL Cup.
Fri Sept 23 Preston v Wigan 2:45 pm ET beIN Connect ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ?? Tape delayed at 4:45 on Sat Sept 24 Sheffield Wednesday v Nottingham Forest 10 am ET Aston Villa v Newcastle 12:30 pm ET
It's not that I can't, it's that I have no desire to. I consume sports in real-time -- if I have time for anything canned it's going to be highlights. If I'm not watching a game live on Friday afternoon then I probably have 5 Live or Talksport on for previews of the weekends fixtures and I'll get score updates then.
Sat Oct 1 Rotherham United vs. Newcastle United 10:00 am ET Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Norwich City 1:00 pm ET (joined in progress from 12:30 ko)
Happy they're showing Newcastle this morning, but can't understand why they're not showing QPR-Fulham right now in the 7:45 am window with numerous streaming channels empty at the moment. The matches in this time slot are generally always available for international distribution.
Match was moved down to 12:45 pm UK for logistical/policing reasons -- not for TV. It's not on Sky in the UK so no live TV coverage. Shame because it's been a fantastic match.
This Rotherham-Newcastle telecast on BeIN Connect is flat-out weird. There's no commentary (stadium sound only) and about 10 minutes in the scorebox changed from this match to Hull-Chelsea with a different font and style.
A couple of Brentford games are scheduled in the near future, according to worldsoccertalk http://worldsoccertalk.com/championship-tv-schedule/
The issue was likely with the feed from Sky, which has both Prem and Football League rights in the UK.
