Yeah, I think this thread is long overdue. Will this be the year we claim a championship, or at least an ACL spot? Can we defend the Nabisco Cup? Will the team run out of awesome talents for Dorompa?
I am so excited about this season it is quite pathetic. Gutted about losing Yonemoto though, and I have a feeling my pre-season optimism may fade. Very important to get off to a good start this year unlike last year's debacle.
Also, an announcement: beginning this year, I've started a new penya (it's what FCT calls its recognized supporter groups) named TOKYO DAMACY 1999. It's intended for international supporters of FCT as well as Japanese supporters who are interested in international exchange. Our first meetup will be Saturday after the Yokohama match at Kenny's Pub in Chofu. Send me a message if you're interested in coming!
I'm really impressed with FC Tokyo's defense. 3 NT members and another that could. The only aspect that I'm worried about is the offense. Hopefully Ishikawa's scoring last season was not a fluke, but even with Ishikawa's goals it probably won't be enough. Hirayama needs to step it up this season for his own sake if he wants to go to the World Cup.
I wonder if Ishikawa is playing tomorrow against Nagoya? They show the game on Eurosport 2 so why not watch it
Tokyo Suruga Bank Cup, Fc Tokyo beat Liga de Quito 2-2 (Hirayama, Oguro), 4-3 PKs. The trophy will be held until 2015.
This thread is a little too quiet without Dok. I thought it could do with a bit of love. 1-1 draw away to Kashima's pretty good, considering last week (not that I know much about the actual performance, having not watched the game). やった etc.
Hey, I do understand that Morishige is a very promising youngster, but , concretely, how much damage has he brought upon his team this season...?
3 penalty kicks and two red cards, I think is the count? Last night was balls. Kajiyama's post-hitter kinda summed up the night for us. And on top of that there was a jumper on the Keio Line which caused them to keep everyone out of the station for 15 minutes after the game ended...
And I'm sure the 5,000 or so people who came out were inconvenienced We had just short of 30,000... the timing was just about as bad as it could get. A few of my Twitter friends just gave up and walked to Chofu (about 2km) and they still beat the trains restarting.
Yeah, Okuma. Not sure about this appointment, would have liked someone with more J1 managerial experience, but I guess there isn't a large pool of such guys that would be available now. Feel bad for Jofuku, liked him as a guy and what he tried to do, and we will always remember November last year. However, he had rather been found out once things went against us this season.
His only real job is keeping you safe.....I don't think he's more than a temp. The young talent that you have will be tempting to alot of coaches.
Home-boy managers in J.League are a very "Japanese decision," often a recipe for disaster. Good luck, you'll need it...
