4 players signed, a GM, and a Technical Director to be exact.

I have faith that Adrian and Chris can put together a good club.

    Re: The Expansion Draft Thread

It's not "on one guy's shoulders" at all.

Chris Henderson is being assisted, or vice versa, by GM Adrian Hanauer, and all of the connections both men have made over their careers in soccer.

    http://www.soundersfc.com/Article.aspx?id=2524

Hanauer and Henderson will make their final determinations from the Emeryville, Ca., offices of Match Analysis, a provider of video and statistical analysis tools, archiving services, and value-added content for professional soccer. Match Analysis records and verifies over 2400 distinct events per match. Using proprietary technology, every touch by every player is catalogued precisely, synchronized against video feeds, and stored in an expansive video database of international football.

Good grief. They are there because that is where the scouting technology is located.

The Sounders' offices are in Tukwila and Renton, WA.

I guess I'm in the minority but I just don't get the whole Flores thing. I understand his story was fantastic, but honestly I just don't rate the guy as a player all that much. I think the "hype" if you will, seems to overtake the actual skill of the kid.

That being said, he is just a kid and might be worth it to pick up and start fresh somewhere else.

He is an OK player but I don't really rate him any higher than any other player his age. Granted, there aren't that many players his age getting quality minutes in the league.

What do you think of this? This would give us depth every where as five guys can play D or M and we would have three forwards. This would be a young roster with enough older guys that we could compete very soon.

Cooke, Terry WM (Trade Bait?) o Kosuke Kimura D Colorado
    Tyson Wahl D Kansas City
Eddie Gaven WM o Brad Evans F C-bus
Nate Jaqua ST o Corey Ashe M Houston
Brandon Prideaux D o Marco Pappa M Chicago
Diego Jimenez D o Jeff Parke D NYRB
Ronnie O'Brien M SJ (Trade Bait)
    Gabriel Badilla D NE
    Kenny Deuchar F RSL
    Joe Vide M DC
Mike Randolph D o Chris Klein D/M LA
    Rohan Ricketts M TFC
    Aaron Pitchkolan CD/M FCD
    Sasha Victorine D/M Chivas

    GK Kasey Keller
D Diego Jimenez/Jeff Parke young and fast
    D Aaron Pitchkolan Tall
    D Tyson Wahl Tall
D Gabriel Badilla young and NE tried very hard to get him
M Marco Pappa Young and skill full
M Chris Klein talented, played D/M last year
    M Freddie Ljungberg
    M Sanna Nyassi
    F Sebastien Le Toux
    F Nate Jaqua Big powerful

    Bench:
    Brad Evans talented low pay

Haven't heard much talk here of sign and trade possibilities.

Any way Sounders get Galindo out of Chivas in return for a keeper, say Hartman?

If we get Freddy Montero from Deportivo Cali, then Galindo is surplus. Plus Maykel has been injured too much in his MLS career.

    My mock draft.

10 rounds only 1 per team.
    Ljunberg-striker/winger (no info)
    Nyassi- Midfeilder/winger (33,000)
    Le Toux- Striker (84,000)
    Keller- uhhhh........Duh..... (no info)
    already on the team

    1. Priedeaux- chicago (79,000)
    2. Gaven- Columbus (165,000)
    3. Burciaga- Colorado (80,000)
    4. Ianni- Houston (75,000)
    5. Holbein- KC (33,000)
    6. Thompson- New England (33,000)
    7. Grabavoy- SJ (90,000)
    8. Ricketts- TFC (200,004)
    9. Williams- RSL (80,000)
    10. Pitchkolan- FCD (33,000)

That is an $868,004 draft, by last years numbers. I am going to assume that Keller and Ljunberg will get the max of $415,000 that brings the total salary to 1.764 mil. leaving $336,000 left to spare, assuming a 2.1 mill cap ( I think it is more). With 6 more senior spots left to fill 56,000 per player. Not a great team but competitive in the west.

    -----------Le Toux---------
    -Ljunberg-------------Nyassi-
    ---Ricketts-Grabavoy-Gaven---
    Prideaux-Holbein-Ianni-Burciaga
    ------------Keller----------

Fox says Sigi is going to Seattle so that probably means Evans will as well.

I'm calling "no way" on all of the Ricketts speculation.

Too expensive, and a Euro to boot -- unlikely to just switch MLS teams because someone told him he had too. I smell a trip back to the championship if they try to force him to move.

I could see Seattle going a bunch of different ways. I know defense is the way to go but there are some good attacking options available. I really think you have to take Jorge Flores, he is going to be legit, especially with somebody like Ljunberg tutoring him. Too lazy to type the rest. The rest of my picks are on my blog http://dos-a-cero.blogspot.com/

That would be a good haul of players, but it looks like you picked one from each of the 14 teams currently in MLS. Seattle can only pick 10 players.

Ricketts is also a John Carver loyalist. When he scored against Chicago at the end of the year, he ran directly to the coach to celebrate and he later credited Carver with "turning his career around."

He'll be back in the CCC if he's forced out of Toronto (or if Carver leaves to take a position at Newcastle, which is also rumoured).

    Re: The Expansion Draft Thread

Given that there's only 1 team I'm assuming there won't be a "draft". Seattle will just submit a list of the 10 players they want at the deadline and it will be done.

    Re: The Expansion Draft Thread

Ok, so here's my mock draft. Or at least who I would take. I didn't consider salary into my decisions, unfortunately.

    Chivas - Jorge Flores
    Chicago - Brandon Prideaux
    Colorado - Terry Cooke
    Columbus - Brad Evans
    DC - Joe Vide
    Houston - Nate Jaqua
    New England - Gabriel Badilla
    New York - Jeff Parke
    Salt Lake - Ian Joy
    San Jose - Eric Denton

    Pass: TFC, LAG, FCD

That brings in a lineup of....
    ---------------Keller-----------
    -Denton-Prideaux-Parke-Joy-
    ----------------Vide------------
    --Evans-----------------Cooke-
    ---------------Freddy----------
    --LeToux--------------Jaqua---

    Bench: Nyassi, Flores, Badilla

Seems like your best trade options are:

    1) Hartman
    2) Razov
    3) O'Brien
    4) Cooke
    5) Onstad (though he might retire)

LA and CHV need keepers badly. And you could hit DC in the gut by taking Crayton.

    Re: The Expansion Draft Thread

Ok time to get my picks in for proof of my prognostication: Here are the picks they should make although I am sure I will only get 4 right ;)

Chivas - Flores (tradebait or nice speed in the 70th)
Chicago - Marmol (huge value to NY or a nice veteran at DM) (If Prideaux wants to go home, at his age, he can force a trade)
Colorado - Dalby (for 33k, huge upside....this may go kimura or Dirai though)
Columbus - wow Evans....but Sigi loves Gaven and he is more versatile having played all over midfield...this is too close to call...going with the more economical pick...
LA - Randolph....two year experienced left back with speed and still only 22...
    NY - Leitch....right back starter
RSL - Sturgis ....young reasonable price dm
<SJ - Gray ...ok this is a joke (he moves more than AJ Wood)>
TOR - Johann ....young speed, upside...trade value
HOU - Jaqua (possible trade for allocation money...if so I like Ianni here....)
<DC - Kirk but only if a Gen Ad still...if not noone from DC>
    NE - Phelan....more youth versatility...

    TEN MINUTES TO GO!

    Re: The Expansion Draft Thread

Here is my $.02 - bolded players are the 10 picks (focus is on young, cheap players to flesh out the senior roster assuming that Seattle will use its bigger remaining salary cap $ on non-MLS players) along with my pick for all teams along with a pair of alternatives (one is typically a younger cheaper option, the other one is typically a older, pricier option):

    CHI: Brandon Prideaux – D $72K, (Stephen King – M , Marco Pappa – M)
    CLM: Brad Evans – M $33K, (Adam Moffet – M, Eddie Gaven - M)
    DCU: Joe Vide – M $18K**, (Francis Doe – F, Louis Crayton – G*)
    KC: Tyson Wahl – D $33K, (Abe Thompson – F, Kevin Hartman – G*)
    NE: Khano Smith – M $46K, (Chris Tierney – D, Wells Thompson – M)
    NY: Jeff Parke – D $57K, (Diego Jimeniz – D, Mike Magee – F)
    TOR: Johann Smith – F $36K, (Marco Velez – D, Carlos Ruiz – F)

    CHIV: Jorge Flores – F $18K, (Lawson Vaughn - D, Ante Razov – F)
    COL: Jose Burciaga – D $80K, (Kosuke Kimura – D, Terry Cooke – M)
    FCD: Aaron Pitchkolan – D $33K, (Ray Burse – G, David Wagenfuhr – D)
    HOU: Nate Jaqua – F $156K, (Corey Ashe – M, Wade Barrett – D)
    LA: Mike Randolph – D $33K, (Ely Allen – M, Chris Klein – M)
    RSL: Nathan Sturgis – D $75K, (David Horst – D, Dema Kovalenko – M)
    SJ: Ned Grabavoy – M $90K, (James Riley – D, Ronnie O’Brien – M)

    * - if drafted, assume that they would be traded to a team needing a goalie (Chivas, LA)
** - salary would need to be increased to senior roster minimum ($33K) if signed by Seattle
