Re: The Expansion Draft Thread He was exposed. If I'm Seattle, I take him and try to deal for Jaqua later. That's one of the more stunning moves I've seen from any team. The quality of this draft seems a bit higher than last year's.
Re: The Expansion Draft Thread COL: Kimura CLB: Gaven DC: Doe or Dyachenko FCD: Pitchkolan HOU: Jaqua KC: Hartman (draft and trade) NY: Mendes RSL: Sturgis SJ: Grabavoy TFC: Smith CHI, CHV, LA, NE: No players taken
Re: The Expansion Draft Thread I've looked at the list twice now. Both times it lists him as protected, not exposed, unless I'm looking at a list that is in error.
Re: The Expansion Draft Thread The one from MLSNet lists all the exposed players, and he's on it. Houston Dynamo Alcaraz, Johnny Ashe, Corey Barrett, Wade Brown, Kyle Caig, Tony Chabala, Michael Hatzke, Nick Hayden, John Michael Ianni, Patrick Jaqua, Nate Mulrooney, Richard Onstad, Pat Ustruck, Erik Waibel, Craig Waller, Corbin Wondolowski, Chris Wondolowski, Stephen There's actually quite a few quality players to pick from on that list.
Re: The Expansion Draft Thread What list are you looking at? It shows him as exposed on the league site.
Re: The Expansion Draft Thread I've been told that any player that has already filed their retirement paper work with the league are not on the list.
Re: The Expansion Draft Thread http://www.revolutionsoccer.net/tea...s&Grid=1&SortResults=2&SortDirection=ASC&pn=1 He was loaned to Alajuelense of Costa Rica. I doubt it will become an official transfer, as he was the first player in MLS history to be acquired for a transfer fee. Jose Angulo is the player that Ives seems to have a mancrush on p), we hold his rights. Matamoros is Castro.
Re: The Expansion Draft Thread I figured out the problem. He's talking about Wade Barrett. I'm talking about Chad Barrett for Toronto. Sorry for mixup.

Re: The Expansion Draft Thread I thought that might be it But why would anyone want Chad Barrett in the first place?
Re: The Expansion Draft Thread 1. I am fairly confidant that Nate has a deal to go to Seattle so who Houston exposes and doesn't expose is irrelevant. 2. Barrett is one of my favorite Dynamo players. 3. That being said, he didn't have a great year this year and he didn't have a great year last year.
Re: The Expansion Draft Thread Because he is tied for ninth on the MLS top goal-scoring list and of the players on that list, he probably makes the least amount of money?
Re: The Expansion Draft Thread Point of inquiry: so Seattle is heading into this draft without a coach? It's all being left to the GM at this point? Seems like a bit of a gamble to run things that way.
Re: The Expansion Draft Thread Could be . However, don't forget that Chris Henderson is the Technical Director and Adrian Hanauer (GM) has many contacts within MLS.
Re: List of available players in expansion draft Although the NY list appears to be missing 3 players (or the league is allowing us to protect 14 players...)
Re: The Expansion Draft Thread Best talent available (not necessarily best fit of best for Seattle): CHV: Razov, Vaughn, Zotinca Fire: Prideaux, Pappa, Frankowski, Marmol COL: Cooke, Kimura, DiRaimondo, Petke Crew: Gaven, Evans, Noonan, Moffat, Lenhart FCD: Pitchlokan, Wagenfuhr DC: Gallardo, Crayton, Kirk, Doe HOU: Jaqua, Ashe, Barrett, Ianni, Mulrooney KC: Hartman, Holbein, Morsink, LA: Klein, Randolph NE: Badilla, Smith NY: Mendez, Magee, Parke, RSL: Sturgis, Joy, Kovalenko, Mathis, Williams SJ: O'Brien, Grabavoy TFC: Freeman (to Europe), Ricketts, Ruiz, Velez, Smith --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some decent stuff out there.
Re: The Expansion Draft Thread Sounders Press Release: Sounders FC Set For Nov. 26 Expansion Draft Seattle to select a total of 10 players from those unprotected by 14 teams RENTON, WASH. – Seattle Sounders FC officials have begun the final phase of their selection process for the 2008 Major League Soccer Expansion Draft. General manager Adrian Hanauer and technical director Chris Henderson will take 10 players in the draft this Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 1 p.m. ET. Seattle, set to become the 15th MLS team in the 2009 season, will claim one player from 10 existing teams; four teams will not lose any player. The league has distributed the list of available players. Sounders FC has already signed four players for its inaugural season: Kasey Keller, goalkeeper; Sebastien Le Toux, forward; Freddie Ljungberg, midfielder; and Sanna Nyassi, midfielder. Hanauer and Henderson will make their final determinations from the Emeryville, Ca., offices of Match Analysis, a provider of video and statistical analysis tools, archiving services, and value-added content for professional soccer. Match Analysis records and verifies over 2400 distinct events per match. Using proprietary technology, every touch by every player is catalogued precisely, synchronized against video feeds, and stored in an expansive video database of international football. Existing teams were allowed to protect 11 players between their Senior and Developmental rosters. Players whose contracts expire at the end of 2008 were still considered part of the team’s Senior Roster and among the 11 possible players to protect. Any Generation adidas players who have not graduated at the end of the 2008 season were automatically protected by the teams and not available for the draft. If Seattle selects a Developmental player, he must be added to the Sounders FC Senior Roster as of the roster compliance date. In addition, each team could not make more than one Senior International player available. For purposes of this expansion process, for U.S.-based teams, any non-domestic U.S. player counts as an International and for Toronto FC, any non-domestic U.S. player or non-domestic Canadian player counts as an International. Designated Players did not have to be protected unless the player had a no trade clause in which case he must be protected. Seattle will have the right to renegotiate a drafted player's salary without having to place such player on waivers or giving his previous team a right of first refusal. On the first day of the Discovery/Allocation Period, Seattle will have priority over players who played professionally in the USL First or Second Division in 2008, subject to another MLS team's right of first refusal. Beginning in 2009, MLS rules limit rosters to 24 players with each club permitted up to 20 Senior players. The balance is to be comprised of Developmental players.
Re: The Expansion Draft Thread No, the wizards are assuming that, since Seattle already has Keller, they won't take up about 1/4 of their team budget on two old goalkeepers knowing one of them has to sit (and it wouldn't be Keller.) It's like getting a free player not taken.
Re: The Expansion Draft Thread Early guesses: Dalby Evans Flores Jaqua Parke Pitchkolan Prideaux Sturgis A.Thompson W.Thompson
Re: The Expansion Draft Thread As long as Seattle doesn't trade Hartman to LA. The big question is whether Arena likes Hartman, and there is some evidence that he doesn't. I would expect Onolfo to know this. On the other hand, you don't have to be a national team keeper to be a big upgrade on the Galaxy.
Re: The Expansion Draft Thread A pretty good list. In part, it depends on who else they're bringing in on the defense (do they play inside or outside). I think there's a reasonable chance they could pick Randolph or Eli Allen from LA.
Re: List of available players in expansion draft Razov, Ante Thornton, Zach Petke, Mike Gaven, Eddie Doe, Francis Wells, Zach Parke, Jeff Mathis, Clint Williams, Andy Freeman, Hunter That would be my team.
Re: List of available players in expansion draft No can do, bro. Only one player per team. Thread merge???
