Conte: “I heard people say Lukaku was a donkey… It’s easy to speak highly now, but a few weeks ago… I always said Romelu was a rough diamond that needed work to smooth him out. I wanted him at #CFC , even at #Juventus ” https://t.co/N1Y2cGIr74 #MUFC pic.twitter.com/WRzHBI79ZT— Football Italia (@footballitalia) January 6, 2020 Conte just loves Lukaku (always has truth be told). Especially with him doing so well in Italy this, as expected ( with 16 goals total, including 14 in Serie A).

Most of Woodward's lies and bullshit over the years have stung in various ways (still do with some of them), but the one about hiring a DoF is the one that hurts the most as far as I'm concerned. With a strong (in his authority) and qualified DoF, I could live with the Glazers ownership, as I used to, and even with Woodward as the top exec at the club as well, in charge of the business/commercial side of things exclusively. Just practically no doubts left as to the majorly transformative effect such a move would have on the club. One that could see us get back closer to where we used to be. And it was Woodward himself who claimed that the club would be going in that direction promptly: that's what makes it far worse. And there are viable options out there, some who are even available right now. Therefore no reason that we're nowhere close to an appointment in that dept and being a club run in a progressive and modern fashion.
Ronaldo's work ethic is already very well known but this above is next level stuff. The results are there for all to see though.

well even that still leaves us with the Glazers but it's a start. if they still want to leech money out then even a good DoF might not have anything significant to spend. probably won't have as much freedom and pull as Woodward does either
One year ago, Jose Mourinho explained why Man United fell behind Liverpool during his time as manager 🍿👀 pic.twitter.com/XCVCbyBFmc— ESPN FC (@ESPNFC) January 20, 2020 Irrespective of what one may think about the man, he's definitely got a point here. Not forgetting the issues back then, but in hindsight, I absolutely feel more and more that van Gaal in particular was done pretty dirty by Woodward. Say what you will, but under him he brought young players along and we were always competitive against the top teams. Perhaps if he had been given what he wanted and needed, things might have been different, including how we played under him at the end.
Van Gaal could more readily have it because he had the pedigree though to back him up. And furthermore, what has Ole really so far to honestly deserve time? Yes, he's clearing alot of the deadwood out and he bringing the culture and true spirit of the club back, but it's doing little in the way of results. Edit: We'll see where we are come season's end, if we're in the Top 4 or if Ole has won us a trophy. Then a fair judgment can really be made after a year and a half in charge...
