A sad day on the horizon when we'll officially see Herrera in a PSG jersey. No fear though, we're targeting Sean Longstaff...

LVG left too early. There was a plan there that Woodward just could not get it.

Our football under LVG was really slow and predictable. He also brought in average talent and played a lot of youth team guys that had no business around the senior team. But he's probably been the best post SAF manager. It's hard to say if those transfers we're his fault or if they were backup options because Woody couldn't close on the first priority targets.

I was all in for #theprocess.

LvG himself mentioned at the time that what was a necessity was a right side attacking player. We never got to see his vision completed.

Only LVG understood the magnitude of the rebuild of the club, everyone undermined his thoughts and minimized that piece of his tenure here.

    Even Mou said that.

The answers are here in front of the club but they are not willing to make the necessary moves.

The good thing is regardless of who comes in as DoF and regardless of their actual role.If there is consensus among the footballing people, they will gang up on Woodward, and he will no choice.

If Nicky Butt/Ole/Carrick/McKenna/Phelan and the DoF are all on the same page for the way we play and we build, then Woodward is going to be left out to dry.

I am not sure that we, the fans, are likely to get what we think we deserve in that hire.

I will also say that I am disheartened a little that Carrick does not get the flack that Giggs did in his coaching gig. Lol. United has been worse in this period.

    no point discussing LvG again.

most of the fans have their tainted view of him as cowardly, defensive football, bad signings and no plan and it isn't going to change. everything that isn't all out attack is bad.

    been over this enough times

In hindsight, there is no doubt he's been the best manager we've had post SAF. I've often wondered how things might have turned out if we was really given what he wanted/needed. He really had to make due in terms of signing and I've always been a fan of him trying to blood youth at a big time scale.
The football was an issue obviously but again, it comes down to what he had at his disposal and being the pragmatist that he is, don't doubt it was a big reason for it. We've seen what he could do when he had elite talent at his disposal, whether it was with Ajax in the mid 90s or later with Barca. And then you look at what he did with AZ and the Dutch national team in 2014: completely different types of football (because of the disparity in talent) but still winning nonetheless.
And the reality is that Woodward did do him dirty, in the manner he went behind his back courting and hiring Mourinho.

…and with the midfield we're set to have this year, it will not make it easy to get over him.

    James Wilson signs with Aberdeen.

Hoping he can somehow kick start his career, since it was injuries and not laziness, a bad attitude or something the like, that got things off track for him.
Wishing him the best of luck.

In his welcome video, he's already speaking French and promised the fans 3 things: (hard) work, professionalism and passion (3 things our team is currently full of atm...).
He also promised he'd improve his French as quickly as possible (which btw was already pretty decent) as being able to communicate well with teammates is important.

5 year deal for 250k per week. I love Herrera but no way is he worth that. Good luck to him.
