There must have been quite a paycheck for the game. Our side enjoyed reliving an astounding victory. Their side endured memories of a bitter defeat. I don't think a Bayern win would have done much to assuage them.

The full interview here - makes interesting reading. In particular his view of our setup beyond Woodward (eg Matt Judge - the guy who does the deals and the scouting setup ie Lawlor/Bout). Interesting from Van Gaal on Woodward, the Glazers and the club being a commercial entity over a football club. https://t.co/d0LhejJJi4— Charlotte Duncker (@CharDuncker) June 3, 2019
He's just saying all the shit we already know. We're run like a business now, not a football club. It's money over product and results.
Van Gaal made some interesting points, can't deny that (especially in regards to our structure). But at the same time, we can't forget that he has shoulder part of the blame for how things were also (just like Mourinho). Woodward deserves a lion share of it because he's the one running things and he does not have a clue on the football side, but Woodward was not responsible for the crap football we've seen under both van Gaal and Mourinho. So while his views regarding Woodward are duly noted, the managers we've had also in the past 6yrs, clearly were not the right fit for the club (like Klopp or Poch are at Pool and Spurs respectively) and so it proved. It's a 2 way street in terms of assigning blame, even if the majority of it can be levied against Woodward, being the guy in charge and all (and the guy who ultimately chose those guys to manage us).
Just need to wait a couple of years to when the gagging order from the banked pay-off is mostly considered lapsed
United need to sign world class player - Nani https://www.beinsports.com/us/premier-league/video/man-united-need-world-class-players/1208390 Nani stating what seems to be the obvious, but when you compare our recent signings compared to those we used to make, it speaks for itself. Even if we get them prior to them reaching their elite status, as we used to, it's perfectly fine. But we need to hit it out of the park with more regularity going forward, as opposed to the odd quality signing here and there that has been the staples of the last 8/9yrs, if we're being honest.
Rio on how he felt when he first came to United. https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...news/man-utd-ferdinand-ferguson-news-16375509 Speaks volume as to how things changed a lot at the club in terms of the characters and personalities we have at the club. The fact that a guy like Rio felt effectively like a mouse initially in a dressing room full of big personalities and winners is telling and something we most definitely lost over the years. Not saying that all the players we look to bring in have to be big on character, but if we can bring in a couple to start, their influence could permeate throughout the dressing room onto other players and slowly change the culture of the team. Coming back to van Dijk, there is no doubt he's had such an effect on Pool since he got there. Been there less than 2yrs but it's clear he carries major weight and influence in that dressing room, as much as guys like Henderson or Milner who have at the club for far longer than he has.
Quinton Fortune is said to be part of United's 3 men shortlist for the vacant U23 coaching job. Would love to know who the 2 other candidates are though. This is another appointment that is crucial and we have to get right after Sbragia.

34 years young in his case He had an average/below average game for much of it, but still scored a hat-trick and showed his quality at times. Most players can only dream of hitting the level of a Ronaldo off-day
