Enjoying this. Cant we please bring back Japp Stam? He's still got it. I hope even just 1 of our current CB's are watching a real master at the position.
Not only does Stam still have it physically (considering he's 46 and all), but his intelligence and reading of the game to snuff out potential threats, are still top, top notch.
GOOOAAAAALLLLLL!! Nicky Butt makes it three! #MUFC #Treble99 pic.twitter.com/fSwoctsAEF— Manchester United (@ManUtd) May 26, 2019
Big Ron with a zinger... David May coming on who only had 14 appearances that season but appeared in every CL photo. Big Ron: He inspired John Terry
Saha made it 4-0, United. A good day for United. And Beckham scores to make it 5 on the back of a great finish. Well deserved on his part as he or Stam are the MotM.
When Ole was asked who impressed him the most today, he named Jaap and Ronnie (Johnsen), adding that we could do with them 2 at the back. Boom, roasted for our current CBs (not that he's entirely wrong, especially when it comes to Stam). David Beckham appreciation tweet. Never change, my childhood hero. pic.twitter.com/KdSfbHaTdc— aritama (@mahdiaritama) May 26, 2019 Second this, wholeheartedly: that was a nice trip down memory lane from Becks.
David Beckham is pure showbiz 🤩He puts someone on THE FLOOR before hammering home at the Stretford End.Beautiful 😍 #Treble99 pic.twitter.com/ed8ofDU39L— Football on TNT Sports (@footballontnt) May 26, 2019
🗣️ "He is a player that absolutely fits in here, but it is up to him as well."Jaap Stam believes Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt would be a great fit at Old Trafford. #mufc pic.twitter.com/L7Y3aoqJ33— Man United News (@ManUtdMEN) May 26, 2019 Have a chat with him, Jaap.
Sad, but true! David Beckham can still cross a ball better than most current Man Utd players.— Liam Canning (@LiamPaulCanning) May 26, 2019
Still the best Dutch defender on the planet... pic.twitter.com/DLwLAOGbHd— Jay Motty (@JayMotty) May 26, 2019 Nothing else to say....
It was a friendly and he gave more effort in that sequence than any of our defenders bar Lindelof have all season.
The current squad could learn from the Treble Legends. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/man-utd-legends-bayern-munich-16334407 Albeit just a friendly, this game was definitely a throwback of sorts to a lot of the reasons most fans fell in love with United: the passion, desire to play on the front foot and entertain the fans, while making sure we're winning in the process. Ole has his faults and shortcomings, but if there one thing he is perfect for, is the ability to instill the true spirit of the club back in the players. And as this game proved, it's something that is badly needed at the moment. Good things should follow once that will be taken care of IMO and player character has to be an important part of our recruitment process going forward.
Did anybody tell Jaap it was just a friendly? FFS the man has a switch not a dimmer. It is fantastic to see.
Too bad attendance couldn't have been required. Likely too embarrassing to see the obvious failures in present quality. Any place to see match besides MUTV?
