Evra's professionalism is unbelievable - Moyes www.insidefutbol.com/2018/05/04/patrice-evras-professionalism-dubbed-unbelievable-by-david-moyes/374512/ You never know obviously which way a player is headed once they're done with the game, but the way Evra just seems to love the game and his deep knowledge of it, it's hard not to see him transition into coaching. Would not bet against him to succeed.
not analogous. the FA Cup is a different format with different set of rules. especially the two stage 25 man squad entry
I read somewhere Coutinho would get a CL medal since he played in the Group stages for them. Mkhitaryan played in the 3rd round game against Derby so I guess he would get one too.
It would be at Pool's discretion if Coutinho is to receive a medal, whether it's winner or runner up. The club is given a certain number of medals and it's a large enough number that he could perhaps get one. To me though, Coutinho, like Mkhitaryan did not play in the games that really matter, including the final obviously, so they should not be getting a medal ahead of anyone still at the club who took part in the competition. With 40 or 50 medals given to CL winners, there probably is room to give one to Coutinho (even if I'd be sure that staff people who probably get one for me). Don't know how many medals are given to FA Cup winners, but the same principle definitely applies to me.
@benni... how do you feel about this? I haven't really tracked Rooney's form for a while. I know he was on a decent run early in the season. Honestly, I am excited that DC United finally splashed some cash on somebody. I think he has enough left in the tank to make an impact at the MLS level. I have grown tired of seeing NYRB, LA Galaxy and even clubs like Chicago Fire land former World stars while DC United just skimmed the scrap heap.
Not happy. 1. I doubt he has the legs anymore. 2. He plays the same position the best players play. 10, Support striker, etc. Asad, Acosta and Stieber all like to play that position. So it stinks of signing without logistics. 3. For the transfer fee paid, DC United could sign 3 young DP's. I cant see how Rooney makes the team better tbh. Lucky for him, if he does arrive. He will get to play all but 2 games at home, so the travel wont be a big issue.
You don't think he could play as a 9? I'm sure this move was also influenced by the new stadium and getting more butts in the seats. I'm honestly considering going to a game for the first time in a handful of years.

United are headed in the right direction - Giggs www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ryan-giggs-believes-manchester-united-14637077
All because of a washed Rooney? I dont understand. DC United is by far the worst team in MLS and probably has been over the last 5-7 years [apart from some fluke seasons we made it to playoffs]. I dont get how 1 player, makes you want to watch all of a sudden. I can imagine it now. After 3 games and more of shit football and a bunch of losses.... you get three weeks of sell outs, then back to the 8,000 fans again...
There are a lot of interesting teams in MLS right now e.g. Atlanta doing good scouting jobs in South America and getting some quality player, Toronto and NYCFC splashing cash on decent players and then the likes of Dallas and NY Red Bulls combining home grown players with some relatively unknown pickups who've done well. But DC? They are bad much like Colorado bad.
correct. the winning team gets 40 medals and can distribute as they please to any player that wasn't an unused player for the entire tournament. also correct on the second part which is what made me think of it in the first place. he made a small contribution but still a contribution. i'm not sure on the FA Cup rule for that or if it comes down to club decision. it would be a weird one for sure
