Ok, this is super random but how in the ******** is Tom Thorpe (former MUFC Reserves Captain) already playing on a team in India with Ryan Taylor and Robbie Keane...? Surely he could have cut it in MLS or League 1/2...
If it was really about the dosh, plenty of their countries he would have gone to before India: China, a few ME countries for starters would surely pay a lot more and a player like Thorpe could play there. I don't think the ISL is known to be a huge money maker for football players. Curious also about what motivated him to go there. Perhaps it's all about the experience. Interesting that Sheringham is his coach there...

Shinji Kagawa, the right man at the wrong time for United? www.planetfootball.com/in-depth/shinji-kagawa-one-of-the-calmest-hat-tricks-ever-what-could-have-been/#new_tab
United ruined a few careers in my era. Starting with Nani, Anderson, Rafael, Fabio, Pogba (first time), Mkhitaryan, Kagawa, Di Maria (partially), Depay, Schneiderlin. All those could have done well, but never properly utilized. I am sure there are a few more.
Something that happens everywhere for a host of different reasons, but in United's case in recent years the biggest culprit (there are a few different reasons why decent players failed but the following is still the main one for me) is pretty clear: the managerial changes. We've changed managers quite often since SAF stepped down and they weren't remotely the same in terms to their style and approach to the game. Is it a surprise then that we've seen many (decent) players fail during this time? We've seen a host fail during SAF's time, but the truly quality ones were relatively few and far in between (most of them were never of United standards to begin - there's a very long list of those...)
The biggest of the all was Veron, he has some good moments especially in the CL but Fergie could never figure out how to deploy him with Keane and Scholes.
Had the 4-2-3-1 (or any variant of that setup were prevalent back then), it would have been much, much easier to integrate Seba into the team. In Europe, it was easier because SAF starting phasing the 4-5-1 in for starters, but also the Continental style of play was a perfect fit to Veron, as opposed to the fast paced and physical game in the league. Was such a pity, because some of the things he could do we're simply incredible.
Half of them didn't have ruined careers and several weren't good enough. Only Nani, but his career want exactly ruined.
