He wouldn't have stayed. Had we kept Tevez over Rooney, a lot of players that were struggling at United to the tactics and playing time to accommodate Rooney would have had a better chance to make it here.
Always hoped we could make it work with Carlitos. Really took to him while he was at United and West Ham, and even picked up a kit with his name on it. Nearly enough time has passed where I can start wearing it again. I kinda miss Berba. Such a silky player, but never meant for United.
Berba was never the counter attacking striker but I think he would have worked with LVG with a possession system slow system where he can drop and create. I really think he would have been perfect for a Barca team or Madrid team.
Berbatov was Ferguson trying to be too clever and ruining a potential period of continental dominance as a result. Ibrahimovic now is quicker and more dynamic than Berbatov in his prime which says it all.
Berbatov was a classy player but SAF really screwed the pooch on that one. Even then, you had to wonder what he was thinking trying to recreate the Cantona effect with him. Just about anyone could see that failure coming a million miles away. SAF, of all people, should have known that it wasn't about the way he played, so much as his mental makeup that made his influence so great on the team back then. Not to mention the obvious also that the game had changed quite a bit as well. Will never be mad at Berba, not really because that was a SAF mistake, but that really was a waste. One that had pretty severe repercussions. It is what it is...
I've posted this several times, but for me this move alone justified the price tag. Somewhere James Collins is sitting alone in a dark room still trying to digest how Berbatov pulled that off.
SAF recently did an interview for West Brom regarding Darren Fletcher and his 300th Premier League appearance. It comes as no surprise that he had nothing but great things to say. Definitely one of my favorite United players. And although the phrase is thrown around pretty loosely, there was no better example of what it meant to be a "top red" than Darren Fletcher. It's a testament to his character that he's been able to reach such a huge milestone 5 years after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. He's reinvented himself under Pulis at West Brom and will no doubt continue to be a valuable servant to the club for as long as his legs will allow.
we do the same with Henrik Larsson and he was here for 3 months on loan. not like a 10 year vet but still an ex player
Well done, Morgan! @SchneiderlinMo4 is your man of the match! #EFCmatchday pic.twitter.com/GFJzltlX3M— Everton (@Everton) February 25, 2017
