The documentary on Netflix about Benzema is very interesting and in many ways, it just makes you go "hmmm"... Even if his game has regressed a bit recently, by rights, he should be selected to the French national team as one of their CFs (along with Giroud and Mbappe). Mbappe is still young and therefore can be inconsistent still and while Giroud is effective with France, Benz just offers something completely different. Along with Griez, that looks like a good and versatile trio at Deschamps's disposal.
David Silva gets to take his premature born son home after a 5mo hospital stay www.bbc.com/sport/football/44133675 It's amazing he hasn't missed more time, let alone play at his normal high level. Good times for him right now.

Winter breaks are about to take place in the Prem, starting in the 2019-20 season. www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/11389671/premier-league-winter-break-set-to-be-confirmed-in-next-fortnight
Don't know about the friendlies part, but don't see what is wrong with teams taking midseason breaks, with warm weather training camps. It can only be good for the players and it's about time the Prem joins the rest of Europe in that regard. Still hope it will take place in January after the Holidays: don't want the Boxing Day/NY tradition to change.
