Assuming this deal actually goes down there's a better chance that I'm filling one of those two jobs than Pauno and NRod.
Update: the twitter bar on the google result for "Chicago Fire" was the TV show's account when I searched it yesterday, then was briefly the results for a "Chicago Fire" twitter search, containing both soccer and the show, and now it's back to the TV show account. One of the top links yesterday was a historical site about the Great Chicago Fire. That's now gone. Something is afoot.
I have all TV show top of the page about halfway down as a just start to scroll ( 5 listings down) Soccer Fire in 'top stories' and 'videos' just below - side banner is for TV show - there are 3 featured videos: 1 from TV show, 2 from the beloved men in red
I saw that particular blurb as it is featured in ESPN+ under MLS highlights. It's basically ol' what's his name saying the same things he's said before. EDIT: Taylor Twellman
'Multiple sources tell @YahooSports' @ByDougMcIntyre that the Fire are unlikely to change their name if and when they move back to the Windy City from suburban Bridgeview' #Chicago #cf97 https://t.co/R7Y2esH0z7— Dan Mihalopoulos (@dmihalopoulos) April 19, 2019
Nah. preserve some of the current elements in it, but update the damn thing. "Generic looking municipal fire department crest" actually looks pretty good on the jersey but it stands out really poorly on its own...so much so that the team was insisting that "SOCCER CLUB" be printed on all of the hats and a bunch of other merch the team was selling a couple seasons ago. Not a sign that you're confident in the graphic design elements you're using at all.
The team is still called the Chicago Fire which sounds a lot / makes people think about the Chicago Fire Department. The confusion will still be there name wise. I also don’t see what you’d change it to; I guess you could make the crest look like flames, but that seems even cheesier/MLS 1.0 than what we would have now.
Not necessarily. I'm not sure that the crest itself necessarily has to directly alude to flames or firefighting or whatever. The sounders crest has nothing to do with the body of water the team is named for (Though their crest does kind of suck). Whoever's handling merch and design right now for the team seems fond of emphasizing the "pointy circle" chicago star element of the current badge. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see the team move in that direction.
If it doesn’t tie into the name there’s not point in keeping the name. It’s either Fire through and through or not worth keeping.
Don’t disagree. Just would be weird to call ourselves the Fire with no visual references to that name. I’m sure some designer has a better idea on I do though on how you could make it work.
It's not like we had to tell the kids that we took Sparky to a farm far away where he could go play with the other dogs forever.
Does anybody know what's our lease per year for TOYOTA Park/SeatGeek Stadium? I recall it was something like 300k a year with a 6% increase each year.

How's this for a dumb idea: Go ahead with renaming it Chicago FC or Chicago City FC, but still be 'The Fire'. Like so:
