Still no Roma bids for Smalling, despite rumors to the contrary. https://www.skysports.com/football/...received-no-bids-for-chris-smalling-from-roma.
Smaldini settling very nicely in Italian football, as expected. 1 goal (2nd of the season)/2 assists in Roma's win vs Brescia today.
Smalls doing well in Italy is not just pleasing for him personally (and unsurprising in the least) but if he keeps this up, that will only increase interest in him, commensurately with his valuation. The latest suggests that United are still to receive any concrete offers from Roma. I'd be in no hurry if I were in Woodward's shoes about this. Just sit back and see how things develop over the course of the season. It's a good bet he could get more than the 18-20mil price tag he's allegedly asking for him, if other teams show an interest in (as it appears to be the case).
United have set the price for Smalling. https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/ma...g-let-chris-smalling-leave-15-million-man-utd £15mil is just a low sum for United to ask for. Especially considering the season Smalling is having with Roma, coupled with the fact that other clubs (including Prem ones are said to be interested). Would set the starting price at 20mil and definitely try to encourage a bidding process to kick up the price hopefully a few Ps. Might even end up with around 25mil when it's all said and done.
I think that's exactly why we've set the price at what we have. We could try to drum up some other bidders, but he's been a model professional and was happy to go out on loan once he was told he wasn't likely to start. Definitely also one of our higher earning defenders after Young and *spits* Rojo. So any money we get for him is a bonus on top of getting rid of his wages. Along w/ Mike, we need to get sales for other players.
Chris Smalling has played himself back into contention for England - Southgate https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ay-back-into-contention-says-gareth-southgate Very good news for Smalling personally and it really makes sense considering his form this season and the lack of standout options to partner Maguire in the England setup at this time. Another positive of him being recalled to the England squad is that it could help increase his valuation. Even more so with rumors of possible Tottenham interest among other Prem clubs, still making the rounds. Selling him for £25mil (which is the latest rumored asking price) sounds about right as far as I'm concerned.
Chris Smalling to AS Roma, here we go! Roma board have never considered the deal off - working by 3 months and now completed the agreement on last minutes of Italian transfers window. €15m + add ons to #MUFC. Paperworks signed. Done. 🚨 #ManUtd #DeadlineDay— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) October 5, 2020 Definitely is not leaving as a club legend or anything of the sort but was still a decent servant of the club nonetheless in his time there. Found his feet in Serie A and hope he can continue having success over there. Wishing him the best of luck and thanks for everything.
