Portland wasn't satisfied with just a US Open Cup one, and got one in league play. Portland 4 - Houston 0
Minnesota 7-1 FC Cincinnati MLS says it's the seventh time that a club scored at least 7 goals. The Galaxy are the only club to score 8.
Is this the first day with three combs? Chicago 5-1 Atlanta Sporting Kansas City 1-5 LAFC Houston 4-0 Red Bulls
LAFC has to be on pace to break the comb record by a margin. And I wouldn't worry too much...just ask to host our team and you'll feel like Bayern against a pub team.
The record for most times Combing an opponent in a single MLS season (including playoffs) is 6 (LAG-1998). LAFC are at 4 so far this season... The first three of those blowout victories were on the road.
Minnesota 6-1 New Mexico in the USOC Quarterfinals New Mexico scored first. How many times has a club trailed before winning a comb?
That was crazy fun to watch... New Mexico scored first in the 7th minute...16 minutes later they were trailing 4-1.
Real Salt Lake 4-0 Philadelphia. RSL has lost two combs but also has a comb win over the first place club in the East and two 3-0 wins.
Atlanta 5-0 Houston Houston won a 4-0 comb over the Red Bulls. Since then, Houston lost to the worst club, the best club, and lost a comb. 3 of Houston's last 7 games were combs. Edit: New England 4-0 Vancouver Teal Bunbury scored in the 90th minute for the comb. That means consecutive MLS games in terms of when they ended were combs. Does anybody know if that has ever happened before with the games that started at the same time? If more than two games started at the same time, it counts if two combs ended consecutively, but even with start times for past years it's not possible to find out the order in which games ended when they started at the same time.
Montreal 4-0 Philadelphia. Lassi Lappalainen and Orji Okwonkwo scored braces. Lappalained is 20, and today was his first MLS game. He's from Espoo, Finland; and Okwonkwo is from Benin City, Nigeria.
In Montreal the goals went Lappalainen-Okwonkwo-Lappalainen-Okwonkwo. Try saying that 5 times fast. Or 1 time slowly.
Portland 4 - 0 Galaxy. Is this season on track to have the most blowout combs MLS has had? Seems to me to be a lot so far.
Is anybody counting how many there have been each year and making sure none of them get missed? You should do it as a percentage of the games rather than an amount because MLS has more games now. This year will have 408 games. The first year in 1996 had 160, and 10 years ago there were 225.
