Needing a win for playoff position, facing a Wooden Spoon contender, San Jose gets combed instead. Brutal. They're now the Comb Leaders.

If SJE gets Combed one more time, they will set a new record for the most combs received in a season (currently at 4, held by 2012 Chivas USA). ;)

No new comb over the weekend following Orlando 6-1 NE in the mid-week.

How many combs are we at for this season so far?

Used to maintain this list up to mid-2013... It's certainly due for an update at the end of 2017.

With 26 Blowout Combs so far, 2017 should be a record-breaking season, both in terms of Comb Count % and Comb Percentage %. :D

    Update: We're at 29/363 in 2017. That's a Combrate of 7.99%

Atlanta and Toronto are leading the way with 4 blowout victories apiece.

On the other side of the coin, both DC and San Jose have received 4 Combs each.

Chris Penso, JC Rivero, and Ricardo Salazar are the most frequent referees to officiate a Combing. Each has been in the middle for 3 Combs this season.

Here’s a question: When was the last time a team was combed, then did the combing, or vice versa, in consecutive games?

Because FCD just did that. They lost to Seattle 4-0 last week, then beat LA 5-1.

We need just ONE comb in the 17 playoffs games to set a new Combrate record. Otherwise, we're going to fall just short.

Most likely candidate to set the mark is San Jose? Earthquakes have been poor on the road this year, where their most severe beatings have occurred. It might not happen tonight in Vancouver, but if the Quakes win, Seattle looms. Second choice would be the Chicago Fire. Like San Jose, Chicago is terrible on the road and seems to play with, pardon the pun, little fire or spirit when away from Toyota Park.

Also, the Dynamo have been in Houston for what...11 years now? In all that time, they have been combed only twice. That's pretty impressive. Meanwhile, New England and FC Dallas look good to get combed at least once every season. DC United too.
