Almost every person who I have spoken to who saw him play claim him to be one of the best ever. Granted, his early death may lead many to rate him better than he was, but there is no doubt he was a fantastic player. If he was to be discounted for only playing for a few years, I would replace him with Tom Finney.
I just wouldn't put someone in on what might have been when England have numerous alternatives.Especially when football history is littered with great youngsters who failed to deliver on their promise.
It's not a case of what might have been with Edwards (in terms of his ability), it's a case of how good he was at the time.

Garcia Aspe, in a list of the best players of all time? He was never one of the best 10 midfielders in the world at any point in his career. What is he (or campos) doing on this list?
