How United beat Chelsea out to Lukaku, according to Jose. www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/09/16/jose-mourinho-reveals-man-utd-beat-chelsea-romelu-lukaku/
I agree this isn't the most offensive song, but "banter" is a tricky thing. I see a few articles posted above but Scott Patterson (http://therepublikofmancunia.com/why-united-fans-should-bin-the-new-lukaku-chant/) sums it up for me: "Here we have a hugely talented striker, currently the top scorer in the league, yet he’s reduced to us celebrating the supposed size of his dick. You know, because all black guys have massive knobs. He’s a strong, powerful, athletic beast with a huge dick, like every other black player. It’s a cheap and insulting stereotype that has no place in this day and age." It encourages a bullshit view of race in football and society - like when an analyst goes on and on about Paul Pogba "what a PHYSICAL SPECIMEN" while ignoring his vision, technique, finesse, and football intelligence. Don't want it to become a huge issue pitting the club vs the fans that sing (few enough as it is at OT) but I'd prefer we leave the racist chants to Chelsea and Millwall supporters.
gtfoh with that chant. the club and its supporters should be embarrassed that it has seen any uptake.
Thank you for sharing that eloquent take on the situation. I've been avoiding the subject because I wasn't sure I wanted to hear what pundits had to say about it.
I can guarantee this factually accurate chant would not even be in the top 25 of worst chants over the weekend. This is simply a case of Kick It Out opting for an easy bit of exposure.
I'm not as familiar as Teso appears to be with the hugeness of Lukaku's manhood, whether in its flaccid or erect state of being, but this chant has to be sent to the trash heap. Even if the chant were about a white dude, as a football you just don't sing chants about a dude's penis, his favorite sex positions or whether he likes his mates male or female.
"Embarrassing" is really the correct term here. More ignorant (and frankly unnecessary), than just being offensive from my point of view.

Im not white. Why should he care? The one time racist white people have something positive (however mature you think it is) about my people, the authorities want to shut it down. But its okay for Park to eat ... Or Vidic to murder people...
Just because he doesn't rant and raves about this, does not mean he doesn't care either. He made his point very clear almost as soon as this controversy arose. Not sure what else he's supposed to do. Pretty sure he did not want to be dragged into this in the first place also...
None of us can speak to Romelu's true feelings about the chant, but he has asked the fans to stop it. They should do as the man has asked. It was fun for those who chanted it while it lasted, but it's time to bring this stupid saga to an end.
Lukaku has been known to be weak in the air. Not so much, based on what he's shown so far with United. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-utd-fixtures-romelu-lukaku-13667272 Always thought that knock against him was overblown, in some aspect, but it's also worth noting he appears to have worked on this part of his game recently as well.
1. none of these chants were/are OK. 2. positive?! just read up on colonial myths, dehumanizing black people.
