Unless he can use that connection to telepathically get them and Benzema to score goals it's another reason he will be scapegoated.
Was it that or was it because all of the other 3 or 4 options in front of the line were not available?
Fell in love with his Spain teams and the love continues to grow. You can clearly see his hand in this team after just 2 games. Impressive. He can become our Pep, hope he stays for many years. Better a Spaniard with a clear idea of how to play football, than these fake ass pshycholist like Mou, Low, Allegri, Klopp etc
He seems to be tactically astute and could potentially create some dominating exciting football. All of our midfield maestro's will be unleashed.
Tbh I see Lopetegui as a bit of an interim coach at this point for Pochetino. I think Poche is destined to coach Madrid in a couple years. Lopetegui will live too much in Zidanes shadow.
I hope not. His tactical plans are complex and need time to learn. Especially if he wants an additional striker and we can't sign any one, it would be best to give him another season.
Barring any scandals or huge drop in form he should stay for 2 seasons. I do agree that his tactics are complex but it's a huge help that we have a core of players who are very suitable to them and already have experience playing that way. He should be given another striker, that's not too much to ask from him.
I kind of hate possession football. I think there is no brand of football better than Heynckes 2013 Bayern. It used possession as a mean to an end, and played the fastest football in 3rd end i have ever seen. Possession was not forced, and they never used aimless sideways passing just to keep possession of the ball. That what i would love to see us playing, not the boring Barca tiki taka shit.
I'm not sure I'd be able to call prime 'tiki-taka' boring, far from it. It's when they lost the required players that it became a shadow of itself, but 08-11 was very impressive IMO.
If Heynckes wouldn't have a deep friendship with Hoeneß 2013 wouldn't even have happened. The guy got absolutely destroyed by Dortmund in the Cup final. Zero chance any other guy survives this.
Because without Messi, tiki taka is that. The most recent example was Spain in the world cup. Now, if we do keep possession intelligently, with purpose and frequent penetration, then i have no problem. But if the emphasis on keeping possession hinders our risk taking then i wouldnt like it for sure. I have seen examples of that last year under Zidane and to be honest, without a player who can penetrate defenses in tight places, it will be even more difficult to make it effective. We have our own brand of football, even though it might not be as well defined as tiki taka. Our best football has always been when we play with high flexibility: keeping possession when needed, but countering in the speed of light when we have the chance.
Lopetegui said that he likes the direct style of play. www.marca.com/en/football/real-madrid/2018/08/03/5b642128468aeb53478b467c.html
Do you feel Lope's Spain played the same way Spain performed at the WC? Or like Barcelona's tiki taka?
After the CL Final against Liverpool, I was dreaming of a 4peat or even breaking Di Stefano's record of 5 in a row. After a few days, I started to doubt.... success breeds complacency. This team actually sucked last season. After the departure of Zidane, it became more unrealistic,and then, Ronaldo, etc. I changd my mind again. This is a break from the threepeat team. We have a new coach.... and the departure of Ronaldo turns the team around. It is almost liked a new team. We do not have the pressure to fourpeat.... while the rest of team seemed fired up to prove a point. Ronaldo was important, but the rest of team deserves credit. concern So far, Lope did a good job. My concern is whether we peaked so soon....or if Bale can stay healthy. I think we can fourpeat;
Onda Cero: Real Madrid is considering changing their manager & a decision could be made as early as tomorrow.— M•A•J (@Ultra_Suristic) October 7, 2018 Lol that was fast
Perhaps it’s a shambles backstage as well as on the field, hence the urgency. There’s something seriously wrong when we don’t score a single goal 4 games in a row. But not sure I believe those rumours.
Firing him is the smart idea, but that said, I do feel a bit bad for him. Didn't deserve to get sacked by Spain, and we didn't do him any favors either by hiring him for a job he wasn't qualified for. Dude's a decent coach just doing his job, at the end of the day. Now his career is disgraced. Hopefully he bounces back.
