i know. 13 years ago. after Messi/Ronaldo we still have a lot of plenty good goalscorers, who will have good numbers. So they will win it, never ever it will be defender or keeper even if they will be fantastic all year.

That’s why I could care less who wins it, it’s a team game afterall , and defenders and keepers are equally important IMO, there is no player who can win a football game on his own, so, I’m never particularly bothered who wins it
Modric traveled and gave the award to Messi... nice to see after neither him or CR7 went to Modric's ceremony last year.
It's a matter if you think the best player individually should win it or the player that contributed the most to his team's glory. Second would be Van Djik, first would be Messi. When Modric won it we celebrated it, so i get Barca fans enjoying it. At the end of the day Messi is one of the best ever, and his records and awards will reflect that when it's over. I surely won't remember much of Virgil in 10 years.

Cristiano was never on Messi's level as a complete player (aside elite scoring). It's like comparing Kevin Durant to LeBron James.
The disrespect....scoring wins games...hence why Ronaldo always stepped up when it mattered, when Messi didn't in the big stage.
Cristiano was a bit behind Messi in the technical aspects of the game. He was ahead in many of the physical aspects, and light years ahead of him in the mental aspects.
