Doesn't matter who the starting 11 is, we will still lose the game. *Delete the club.
Last year (new Year's Day at that last year), Olivier Giroud scored THIS magnificent goal against this very same club in this very same fixture at the Emirates, so I guess it's all a bit of "wait and see" now as we are playing like shit, but enjoy this SCORPION goal which was named the FIFA Puskas award winner for Goal Of The Year!!! BTW, here is the entrance video for legendary WCW and TNA iMPACT! wrestler, The Icon, STING!!! He is famous for his Scorpion Death Lock that he uses as a finishing submission maneuver, Someone please make Olivier Giroud HIS OWN pitch entrance video using this very same piece of music, as well as highlights of that very same goal!!! I figure... shit!, we've got nothing to lose, so we might as well!!! THE SCORPION!!!
I'm starting to think that my new subscription to NBC Gold is going to come in more and more handy. Just like it does for fans of Everton, Leicester and Stoke.
According to Arsenal.com the game will be on CNBC at 10 am. I think we will win this one pretty easily. I'd love to see how a Jack, Ramsey, Xhaka MF functions together. Maybe I am in the minority here but the team looked very fluid inspite of a loss last week. The first half was beautiful football. Once the subs started happening, we went to $hits. That we cannot defend in the back and press properly in the MF are bigger issues altogether. Laca is sooo slow though. I am worried. And please, no Danny boy.
There will always be people willing to do match threads. We need to get this place back to its former glory.
I'm all for that! But sadly too many people around here are overly negative and pessimistic about the club and about this trusty old long-form BBS service. I feel basically the same about both. If you support Arsenal / BigSoccer then stick around and contribute in a positive way. If not, then I don't think the rest of us will mind too much if you fade away once and for all. That said, I think the idea of BS returning to it's former glory of say 10 years ago (or more?) is a bit optimistic. But I don't think it's on life-support either. I think there are enough positive contributors to keep this place alive. Hopefully Andy or whoever owns this place feels likewise.
If you mean you think the deal will still not be done by then (or will have died), then the chance of him even being in the squad are very low. I'm rooting for all this to be settled Friday so that everyone's heads can be clear for Saturday.
He shuffled off to Buffalo a year or so ago. He's come back for few very brief cameos. He'd be welcomed back I figure.
The good news is that Koscielny, Monreal and possibly Ozil will be back. Two experienced heads at the back and the only way we seem to be able to inject some life into the forward line is when Ozil is up for it. I'm guessing Sanchez won't play at all with his transfer imminent. If we can put Monreal at left-back and play a back four I'd like to see Maitland-Niles given his chance in central midfield if he's recovered from illness. I'd go with: Cech Bellerin/Chambers/Koscielny/Monreal Maitland-Niles/Wilshere Ramsey/Ozil/Welbeck Lacazette I suspect Wenger will play Mustafi at the back instead of Chambers. The week after we would hopefully have Mkhitaryan in for Welbeck and have the nice problem of having to decide between Lacazette and Aubameyang!
Including me, count me in as one of the diehards NorthBank!!! Hey if I can put up with my L.A. Kings and their (mostly) losing ways for the past 43 years, even though we DID win 2 Stanley Cups (2012, 2014), I can do the same with Arsenal, their history brought me here, and I still think we can make it at least to the semifinals of the Europa (if not win it), in which (I think) we are heavy favorites in the last 32, and provided we win outright in the second leg with Chel$ki (a score draw would be as bad as a loss as the first leg went 0-0) I think we can go on to win the Carabao Cup, so pull your heads outta your asses and COYF'n'G!!!
I've got a lot of stuff I have to do this weekend, so I'll be recording the game to watch in the evening. I do hope the return of some veterans will energize things a bit.
Same. I took an 8:30 AM spin class, so I might be back in time for the game, depending on how long I hurl for after.
I know it's only 5:30 am here on the west coast but is anyone else keeping tabs on the Brighton-Chel$ki match (on NBCSN right now) at the AMEX? So far Chel$ki are 2-nil up at halftime, so we've got our work cut out for us at home to Palace, as if the result holds we need to win to keep pace and stay in the chase for the Top 4. So far, no deal done but there have been rumors out about perhaps a trade involving Alexis possibly going to United in exchange for Henrikh Mkhitaryan (I had to use copy and paste on his name as I myself couldn't spell it properly without butchering it).
