Kickoff from St. James Park will take place at 2pm BST/9am EDT/3am HST. NBCSN will provide television coverage in the States. Well, it’s been an interesting summer, to say the least. Time to get down to business, though. Let’s be havin’ ya’. Today’s magpie fact: Newcastle are shit. Up the Arsenal.
Word from the club is Kolasinac and Ozil will not travel to Newcastle. Apparently they are still dealing with the fallout from their car jacking incident. I wonder if the guys that did it were a part of some larger (not very good at) crime organization that didn't care to look as bad as they did from the incident in the media. https://www.espn.com/soccer/arsenal/story/3916699/security-incidents-see-duo-miss-arsenal-opener Crazy world we live in.
Yeah, that is a genuine concern. When you can't travel to a domestic fixture in this league due to safety fears then something is truly outta whack.
The crew at NBCSN thinks The Arsenal SHOULD win, 1-3, BTW, what do you think of the New Shite Hart Lane, in which we will get to see more of in the late match at 12:30 pm ET/9:30 am PT on Big NBC (your local NBC affiliate)??? IMO, it looks just like Tottenham do, like shit, but, if i had a dog I just might want to take him out on the pitch for a walk, and then, you know, much like other dogs.....
Not gonna lie, I’m nervous about this one. Away with half a squad at 100% ready to go. Is Luiz full go? Right now I have out or possibly out as Bellerin, Holding, Pepe, Lacazette, Smith-Rowe, Mavropanos, El Neny, Tierney, Ceballos. That’s a helluva lot. Probably Laca and Ceballos could be ready, but it is still Arsenal. I’d rather not rush Pepe.
True. This sucks completely. For the players, the team, the fans, the world. Ozil in particular must be wondering to himself "why do I deserve all this shit in my life? Will I ever catch a break?" Ps. Thanks to @Tonerl for starting this first thread. May your reign be long!!!!
Catch a break? Dude has one of the most jacked contracts in world Sports 350k a week to sit on the bench
We ought to win this, considering Newcastle is expected to be a weaker team now than at the end of last season. My worry is that this is a much more important game than it should be for being as early as it is. It's not a huge exaggeration to say that it's must-win, even. I'd be pretty confident about this if we had most or all of the players we want to rely on for this season bedded in and playing decently well. But we don't have that, of course. As it is, I suspect we'll want to play David Luiz since he seems to be in good condition from participating in Chelsea's offseason program. If we do, we probably should think about going 352. I think I would probably do that, but there are issues. We haven't been playing it in any of our friendlies, it requires Lacazette to pass his fitness test, and the wing options aren't as good as we'd hope (I'd go with Reiss Nelson on the right Martinelli on the left personally). If we don't go three at the back, I think our defense looks pretty bad. Pretty much we're forced to play AMN at RB, Monreal at LB, Sokratis and one of Chambers/Luiz/Mustafi at CB, and in general I think you'd have to figure Mustafi should feature in a prominent way which defeats the purpose of convincing that he has no future at Arsenal and should accept a transfer window to Monaco or somewhere else. My guess is we'll see the latter. Personally I'd go with the former though I suppose either one is defensible considering what we have to work with at the moment.
If Emery has told Mustafi (as the media has reported) that he can find a new club, then he shouldn't even be making the trip to Newcastle. Simple as that.
Clearly you missed my drift. I was thinking about things like: 1) you and your new bride are attacked by knife wielding thugs, 2) you are prevented from doing your job (at the season opener) because of continuing concern for your security, 3) You were the target of apparent racism by your national team and federation There are perhaps other examples. Regardless of how wildly overpaid he actually is, he doesn't deserve that shit.
Here is this season's Arsenal jersey I created for Cindy Margolis for this season (I always make her one every season and have since 2015-16), I REALLY DO want to get her to become a Gooner this coming season especially since Susan Sarandon has already pledged her allegiance to Tottenham, as I dreadedly saw in the pre-match interview during the halftime show of the Bournemouth-Sheffield United match on NBCSN in which she was referred to THEM by a fellow fan (Lee Dixon was scrambling to try and get her to switch to us but to no apparent vail), so all of you back me up on this one (her e-mail contact is margoliscindy@aol.com, her Facebook page is www.facebook.com/cindymargolis), so COYF'n'G!!! BEAT NEWCASTLE tomorrow morning so we can set the table in order to convince Cindy to join all of US (at least supporting the club if not becoming a Big Soccer forum user and specifically the Arsenal forums) before it's too late!!!
Apparently 2 dudes were arrested outside Ozil's home!! Hopefully this is all over now . . . But honestly, who knows . . . https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/two-men-arrested-over-mesut-18895275
Just checked Arsenal.com and saw we'll be donning our new away yellow kits tomorrow morning/afternoon, so for those who already own a set that's what we'll be wearing on the pitch at St. James' Park, as for our goalkeeper, he will be wearing the blue GK kit. COYF'n'G!!! BTW, it should be a well-officiated match as Martin Atkinson will be the match referee for our tilt away to Toon Town. Mike Dean drew the West Ham-Man City 0-5 shellacking of a match earlier on this morning in West London, thank goodness. My other two favorite referees in the EPL include Anthony Taylor and Michael Oliver. Along with Martin Atkinson, all three of them are fine and fair officials, if there was a fourth space, the now-retired Mark Clattenberg would be the fourth.
I predicted the lineup exactly, too bad I didnt post is so I have no proof :-( Leno AMN Sokratis Chambers Monreal Guendouzi Xhaka Willock Mkhitaryan Aubameyang Nelson
