Let me give you some perspective though. This is Lovren saying he makes less mistakes than Sergio Ramos, the arguably most accomplished central defender of his generation. Other than the World Cup, there is no trophy in pro football Sergio Ramos has only won once. People don't like to hear it, but Sergio Ramos is his generation's Paolo Maldini. He's one of the best to ever do it.

A player that has 3 appearances and 270 minutes played on his season sheet is out there saying he's better than that.

Sorry, but no. No matter the day, Ramos plays a high risk game, which is why there is a high reward to it. Lovren's reward in claiming he was the best defender of the year was having less minutes on the pitch than Chupo Moting.

This is a clear anti Ramos agenda. These incidents happen every week in football. Where were these concerned pundits when we were getting slaughtered against Atletico game after game? It used to be called passion i remember.

Also It's funny how there isn't a single post about the phantom penalty called for City at the same night.

Ramos does take risks and sometimes pretty silly ones. If that was Varane (in form) he'd run across that forward without touching and clear the ball right away. But nope, this is Ramos. Swings the arms when unnecessary. Why give reasons for people to gossip when you can defend without breaking some rules?

Ramos is not the only one. We have lots of physical incidents happening every week in the sport. Ramos did one thing wrong, he injured Salah, and now british media is gonna be after him until he retires. Didn't they call this karma or something when it happened? I would even say they praised it to some degree.

That's bias. VVD is the best defender in the world to them. I'm not saying there isn't an anti Ramos agenda out there. I'm saying Ramos makes it impossible for people to forget flaws in his game by making such ugly tackles or elbows repeatedly

If i was him i wouldn't give a flying F about what they believe or not. Pepe had 3 clean seasons after Mourinho's departure and still he was considered a dirty player. I said it before, i only care about winning, haters gonna hate.

VVD is a great defender. He’s probably the only defender in the world who’d be able to replace Ramos’ leadership, quality and authority on the pitch, a modern day Ronald Koeman in the way he plays. It’s a shame Liverpool got him first as he’d brilliant as Ramos’ successor
