The road trip part we did over 3000 miles. 4 hours from Washington to Uniontown for the Wright houses, was nothing compared to the 8 hour drive from Fallingwater to Niagara Falls on the Canadian side we did the next day!
twice, my wife and i spent a total of 30 days driving from SoCal to Philly and back, through Chattanooga where her brother and sister live. we spent several days each place. one of the trips we first drove to Yakima where her older son lives on the way to Philly. of course, we stop every couple of hours to get out of the car and walk around for a few minutes or eat or wash our hands.
That would've been a good drive. What made it worse for me was that you guys drive on the wrong side of the road.

On another note, just bought some land here outside Austin, owned by a guy in Melbourne (Oz). My good ol' gal real estate agent thought he lived in a town with a funny name - "Pinewood VIC" is how she had captured it in writing. A little geography lesson ensued .

I lived about 15 miles from North Wales. We used to take the Ferry across the Mersey and ride our bikes into the Welsh Mountains on Sundays. Just about 3,000 miles the other way.
