Well that's a cynical take on things, makes it sound as if this is some diabolical new strategy for Bernie rather than him just being himself. "Trump playbook" would imply that he doesn't actually believe in the BS he's spewing and is instead just manipulating the progressive rubes. When actually nothing he's saying is inconsistent with the ideology he's espoused for decades.

Though I do wonder about him getting caught up in his own hype and beginning to enjoy the adoration he's receiving. I started to see that with Warren too, she really seemed to be getting into those selfie lines.

“This is an election that will have such profound impact so take your vote seriously. And for the Democratic voters, try to vote for the person you think is most likely to win because at the end of the day that is what will matter. And not just the popular vote, but the electoral college too.”

    — Hillary Clinton, quoted by Variety.

Problem is it's not obvious which person is most likely to win. I think virtually any of the major candidates could beat Trump, and any of them could lose, depending on what happens between now and then (and the nature of Republican shenanigans).

And I think Hillary's probably thinking of Biden when she says that, but I'm not convinced that he's more likely to pull it off than the others.

Did you watch the link or just see the headline and run with it?

Bernie's a socialist. Socialists view the world through the lens of dialectic materialism. This really shouldn't come as a surprise.

BTW calling people who have fought decades for civil rights RACIST is a magisterial cop out.

I said this before, but I don't get that vibe from Bernie. He genuinely doesn't look like he's enjoying any of this. I'm sure he has his personal reasons for running, but, at least on its face, it looks like he genuinely wants to help people. I don't think he wants to be a demagogue like Trump. He wants a better America for everyone, not just rich, white men. All of the other candidates look like they're doing this for legacy or for rich people or status quo, but I think he genuinely believes his causes and doesn't just pay lip service to get elected. Again, I don't think he'd get a single thing passed, and he'd be a one term president if even he did win, but he would have the pulpit to preach his message or his brand socialism and progressive-ism, which is a message that should be heard in a country as right wing as ours is.

I mostly agree. He literally went to Warren and tried to convince her to run in 2015. He’s not on a power trip.

It's a pointless "well, actually" post.

Sorry I didn't write that before.

I legitimately don't know why this is a problem only Bernie or Warren have. No candidate, be it Sanders, Warren, Buttgieg, Biden, etc. is ever going to publicly problematize the electorate like that and say the people who voted for Trump did so because of racism. Look at how much mileage Team Trump got out of Hilary's "deplorables" comment.

My problem with Bernard is he has not yet been put through the right wing attack machine and I worry he is a sitting duck for it with his "socialist" background.

If anything the right has been boosting him for years, precisely because they sense he could lead the dems to ruin.
