I'm honored to be on the 2019 enemies list so let me be 2nd on next year's list by suggesting the toast thread should start after opening week and run all season long.
As MLS adds more teams, we are going to start to find some teams being almost seemingly rooted to the bottom of the table so toasting them in preseason is logical. That is unless MLS keeps expanding the playoff field.
If you spread toast around, you leave crumbs everywhere and @Knave for all of his many, vast number of faults keeps a clean house.
For all you who have often wondered about the miracle that is how toast is made, here is a video to explain the magic of toasted bread.
It would take the right results from a lot of games, but LAFC can clinch 1st in the West by next Sunday if they win both games (SJE and LAG) and a bunch of other things happen. Two wins put them at 64 points. Losses for SJE and LAG put the maximum points for both at 62. If MIN loses to SKC, their maximum points would be 63. If SEA ties POR, the maximum points for both would be 62. If RSL drops any points to COL, their maximum points would be 61 or 62. All other West teams already can't catch LAFC. There might be other results that clinch 1st for LAFC depending on tiebreaker analysis that I haven't attempted. Reaching 64 points would also put LAFC very close to clinching the Shield, as there are only three East teams remaining that can reach 64. That won't happen in the next week, though.
... The "How can I show you toast unless you first empty your bread box?" Update ... Notes Nothing much really happened this week. SEA took a tumble down the table. I guess that's good. A few other team jostled around. LAX clinched, surprising nobody. FCD is trending toward toast in the EC. The contest for the bottom two playoff spots in the WC remains competitive. All in all, meh. Quick Hits St. Louis, you're latest addition to the Toast Thread enemies list!
Those crazy mods coming in and messing up the Toast Update....which one would be so devious to do that?
Wait a second! There's something hinky going on here. You have RSL behind Seattle in the combined table when in the Western Conference table, RSL is ahead of Seattle. Who's fault is that?
