We can win at home against Young Boys and Valencia and Young Boys on the road. The key is can we get points against Valencia on the road and Juve.

A good start to the CL campaign this season is important. Beating Young Boys and Valencia at home are a must. It's also important to get a point of Juve at home. Hopefully Ronaldo isn't clicking in that system still by that point.

what sucks about this that the few positives that we've seen are all totally superseded by these crap performances and results. for example: what does it matter if Luke Shaw plays well when we ship goals in 2's and 3's and he doesn't make up for it offensively? what does it matter that we added 2 more mobile midfielders who can play 1 & 2 touch football when they never play and are in the dog house after 7 games? what does it matter that Fellaini is in form when we still lose games to weak opposition and the rest do not pull their weight? what does it matter that Pogba came back a WC winner and enthused when the manager actively tries to break him down or feud with him? or that everyone else is static and refuses to make good runs or show for the ball? what does it matter that we finished second last year with the second best defence in the league when we are regressing and conceding more goals than ever? and are already double digit points behind the leaders? what does it matter that we secured one of Europe's top RBs when the manager never plays him and would rather play CMs at CB to prove a point? what does it matter that we 'stole' Sánchez from under city's noses when no one cares and he's been "lime shit" since day 1?
Our October slate. It does not get easier... 2 October - vs Valencia (CL) 6 October - vs Newcastle (PL) 20 October - @ Chelsea (PL) 23 October - vs Juventus (CL) 28 October - vs Everton (PL) Would say that luckily most games are at OT, but it's not like it's been a fortress as of late. But it's imperative in the league at least that we manage to get 7pts minimum (we really need to get all 9), to get back into things going into November/December. A poor month and Mourinho's fate really should be sealed...

Fire Mou and hire Jardim now!!!!! Or Bring on Jardim to coach the attack. Either way a guy like him could be very useful to us right now!! Putting this here now!!
Where do we go from here on in and what are our hopes and goals for the season? Mourinho looks to be set to remain in place for the foreseeable future (end of season or close to it imo). Still believe that 4th will be a tall ask after our poor start. Being that we are still in October, there is a chance obviously but we need to go on a serious winning run and the games are only going to get tougher also. We'll see where we stand at the turn of the year, I guess. Still want Mourinho to be gone though, as I'm desperate for a change and an attempt at least to return to what we were. Just watched a vid of Chelsea between 04-07 and honestly would be more than happy watching that type of football: strong defensively, but they were so powerful and athletic going forward as well. When you think of the players we currently have, with just a couple of smart additions, we could emulate that. So yeah, I think Top 4 is all but done and will mean the end of Mourinho, but I'd still want us to salvage something by winning the FA Cup. Woodward keeping to his word and appointing the DoF/Sporting Director we need by early 2019 would be nice as well. If keeping Mourinho means that both guys can put in a few good months of work towards a viable and solid replacement at manager, I'll take it.
With Arsenal winning again today, that leaves us 7pts now behind them (and Spurs who are tied with them) for 4th spot... Not good.
Guardiola is claiming that the league is a 5 horse race. www.bbc.com/sport/football/45994895 I wonder if he's just being diplomatic and whether he actually believes this. As mentioned yesterday in another thread, Arsenal have done extremely well and have been a surprise of sorts so far. But while they are very much in the race for the top 4, I think that's as far it will go. The top 5 teams in the league appear to be in the race now, but I expect it will be a 2-3 team race before long between City, Pool and possibly Chelsea. The most depressing part of this is we find ourselves very much on the outside looking in. Even Arsenal, who were thought to be the weaklings among the Top 6, are looking solid and have transitioned well so far under Emery. While we are floundering, with no changes on the horizon and little hope for the remainder of the season. And we're just coming up on November, ffs. That's really should not be acceptable...
