I was assuming the second ESPN number (35,000) for Orlando-NYFC was ESPN Deportes, and that Soccer America had simply failed to qualify that when they added the second number. And as to the second part of your comment. Let me correct that now: Making the appropriate combinations for MLS week 1 TV viewing: 509,000 LA/FCD Univsion 446,000 Orlando/NYFC ESPN/ESPND 441,000 ATL/NYR FS1/FoxD 235,000 Portland/Minn FS1/FoxD Average week 1 — 407,750

I think Soccer America had the ESPN D data. I think that is what is throwing our average off from the ones they listed in your following post.
2015 539,000 Orlando City/New York City 341,000 LA Galaxy/Chicago Fire 268,000 Sporting Kansas City/New York Red Bulls 289,000 Seattle Sounders/New England Revolution 2016 235,000 match was a typo is a mystery. I couldn't find it when I double checked. Latest figures including ESPND are here (Of course Portland/Minnesota did not have a Liga MX lead-in this year)

This is huge because Facebook has nearly 2 billion users and they can promote directly to them. MLS will get lots of publicity. I wonder how much Facebook paid, and what is MLS's share?
This whole deal is very confusing. I don't know if it is something new or was covered under the last contract. it gets even more twisted because it is Univision, who owns the Spanish rights, streaming in English. The digital rights were the big issue in the last go around and supposedly ESPN won those rights but nothing has come of it. I assume what ever comes to MLS in revenue will be small since those appears to be a toe in the water type deal.
MLS, Univision announce deal to broadcast games in English on Facebook Live MLS games are coming to a Facebook page near you. Major League Soccer and Univision Deportes announced on Friday a collaboration to live stream a full slate…

Yes. It is only available to be viewed by US Facebook users. The @univisionsports @mls Facebook streams will be restricted to the United States, according to the official release.— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) March 10, 2017 Basically Facebook purchased the English language broadcasts that Univision shows on the SAP function. The English SAP function will still be there for the TV broadcasts.

So is EPL no longer the hipster league of choice? I may be wrong, but it seems like their numbers have fallen off significantly. It could also be that people are realizing they aren't they be all end all league.
