Thoughts? Manchester United's 2017/18 squad depth 👏🏻 pic.twitter.com/pEdeFoFQSS— EPL Bible (@EPLBible) September 8, 2017
There's an old Chinese proverb that goes something like this. You don't need to outrun the bear; you only need to outrun one other hombre whom the bear is chasing. We can sniff that we're "not good enough", but each of our rivals for the league trophy also have weaknesses. And so far -- only three matches into the season -- there's really not much to quibble with. As for strengths and weaknesses, it should be pretty clear we've got solid depth in attack. Lukaku has scored 3 of our 10 goals in 3 matches this season, in contrast to Ibra scoring most of our goals last season. Pogba hasn't hit top gear yet. Ibra hasn't even laced his boots yet. Our midfield may be the strength of the squad, apart from having the league's (by far) best keeper. The weakness is at the two fullback positions but our first choice at left back will return soon and we'll see what he's got. It will be interesting to see how the situation at right back develops.

As mentioned in the game thread, there is obviously some kind of pattern emerging, by the looks of it (even if it's not necessarily pretty as of yet). www.skysports.com/football/news/29326/11041155/gary-nevilles-man-utd-verdict-not-perfect-but-jose-mourinhos-side-hitting-a-pattern
Normalized standing for the top 6 (assumed par for league winner is 90 points) City +0.8 United -0.1 Chelsea -1.4 Arsenal -3.65 Liverpool -3.7 Spurs -4.55 Essentially, 2 clusters are starting to form though the criticism Wenger has received is over the top. Liverpool and Spurs have had worse starts. @The Jitty Slitter

Well, going into the new season most of us here believed that it was a three team race for the EPL trophy, with Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal comprising the second pack of three. It's incredibly hard to repeat, thus we ruled out Chelsea. No surprises so far, other than the clean sheets we've kept in four of our five matches.
True tests to United and City's title credentials are coming - Gary Neville www.skysports.com/football/news/29326/11042588/gary-neville-true-tests-await-man-utd-and-man-citys-premier-league-title-credentials
Professor Neville is getting dangerously close to becoming Captain Obvious. "True tests" always await a club performing well against bottom half clubs. What would have been more useful for Gary to share with us is an assessment of the relative strengths and weaknesses of the two Manchester clubs, if not Chelsea as well.
Agreed. As I wrote, "starting to". We need to wait until match day ~15 or so before anything more conclusive.
