So what's the deal? Did Gomez lose his striking effectiveness or was it just the way the teams played him?
Off his quotes and the general Liga MX pay scale, he is somewhere in between $650K and $750K, depending on bonuses.
Lots of cash to be found down South. Why aren't there more MLS players heading to Mexico or Liga MX looking to MLS for loans or picking up some quality players for cheap?
You need a Mexican passport and some skills. And Jonathan Bornstein only had one of those requirements.
And he scores a nice header last night against Veracruz: https://vine.co/v/OjipYWBQJMe https://vine.co/v/OjermIHL0er
I'll add that Herc's scoring run began under Chelis at Puebla and there's obviously quite a bit of residual goodwill from those exploits. Puebla doesn't have the resources of UANL, so Gomez should get plenty of PT in 2015. Unless Chelis decide to resign in mid-mid-season, as he's prone to do. This is his third run with Puebla, according to Wikipedia.
Puebla 2-0 winners over Sonny Guadarrama's Atlante in Copa MX tonight. Close-range Gomez goal at 2:30.
If he continues to round back into form and Jurgen insists on calling up a veteran striker I wouldn't mind a recall for Herc, much rather have him there than Wondo.
That Puebla does something to him. He stated though he's done playing for USA. I don't think he comes out of retirement, especially with the emphasis JK has on youth right now--I think Herc even knows it's not worth it.
The free kick was caused by the "foul" on Blanco (who then served it in) ... I have seen the same dive and the same pained expression on his face for almost twenty five years ... but the ref still fell for it. PS. El Chelis must have already quit (for the 3rd time) because "El Profe" Cruz was on the sidelines for them last night.
He always have excellent runs! You mean to tell me that he just didn't stand there and hoped the ball came directly to him.
Two more goals for Herc against Toluca tonight, bringing his total to four in four CopaMX games. Plus, Cuauhtemoc Blanco was sent off.
