This is absolutely awesome but man the time that went into making the collage. Seeing the whole thing, though, makes me appreciate the current kit more. I like the striking red band across the chest. It's a nice upgrade on the simple white shirts. And I don't mind the white shorts. It's a good balance, I reckon.

Has Ballack actually said anything since we won the WC. I know he had allot to say still up to and including the Algeria game. After France game he somehow went quite.......

He was a pundit for ESPN. I've seen some clips of him on there here and there. He certainly commented on it for ESPN and I've seen a clip of him celebrating in the studio...wait a second...here it is:

Ballack was probably, along with Ruud van Nistelrooy and Martinez, the best analyst on ESPN during the WC.

I really liked the espn broadcast team..

Except, Ian darke.... One of the biggest tools in broadcasting.

Macca had to carry him many times.

Ian was playing a role of an antipod to Steve. It just so happened that Steve was tasked with covering the better teams, due to lack of experience, as it is significantly more difficult to analyze a weaker team and find positives. But for Brazil match, both just kicked back and enjoyed the match, ditching their tasks altogether as it went completely out of control. This resulted in the now classic commentary.

The BBC One broadcast had Lineker as host and several high-profile ex-players as pundits on their shows. It was incredible to see Alan Shearer getting out of his skin defending Germany's brilliance with the rest trying to lay responsibility on other teams' ineptness. It's easy to do the latter when the score is lewdly embarrassing, but he held his nerve and was breaking down every team move, every play, every goal with precision against three others bent on seeing mainly our weaker sides and diminishing Germany's accomplishments. Having watched both ESPN and BBC ONE shows, I gotta hand it to Shearer being the best pundit this past tourney.

One example was when Argentina played Swiss.

And the GK got to the ball first but Ian kept harping how it should've been a pk for Argentina because of either messi or some big shot..

I had enough of his idiocy

I thought Ian Darke was highly popular in the US?

Not sure about others.. But that's how I feel about him..

The more I listened to him over the many years the more I grew to dislike him

He is. He is very popular with American soccer fans. I personally feel he is a bit over-rated. Would have loved to see Martin Tyler be retained as no. 1 guy. I really like Derek Rae. To me, he was the best announcer of the Cup. I miss him calling Champions League games in America.

But give me any of the ESPN announcer over what we will be stuck with in 2018. Gus freakin' Johnson. Guh!

I think I know what you mean. Ive seen three games US, Brazil and Argentina. And esp. in the final it was almost like after the goal Darke missed the moment to build up tension. You know after the goal with Argentina desperately trying to get the equalizer in 8 minutes....

But we have the same problems here in G as well. Both ARD and ZDF each have up to five main announcers and the three most disliked of them all did France, Brazil and the final. The best announcer by far is Wolf Fuß is out of WC cause he is working for SKY.

He is very popular because he overtly roots for the USA in their matches.

Game commentary really is in the gutter. I miss the co-commentator for one. And I'd advise ARD and ZDF to hire some of their own radio commentators, they're so much better...

Not that I'm aware of. Let me know if it exists, though, if it does.

Most of the high def football matches I download during the season, have at least two audio tracks to choose from within your media player - one with commentating and one with stadium ambience only. I'm assuming that's the way they are broadcast on some networks, usually ARD and ZDF for bundesliga, which is then digitally recorded onto a file.

What? He picked Germany to win 2006, 2010, and 2014 world cup. Third time was the charm. :)
